Chapter 01: Genesis
IN THE BEGINNING, the universe was split into two realms: the Realm of Light and the Realm of Darkness. Both planes were ruled by two primordial gods, Yuna and Oknos, respectively.
The Realm of Light, often referred to as the Everplane, was a place of endless warmth. It is where the faeries existed and thrived, and brought peace and tranquility to the world. The Goddess that hailed from the Ever was made of golden sun and wings that protected her plane from the Realm of Darkness, or the Neverplane.
Oknos, the God who presided over the Neverplane, was vile and cruel. His realm was filled with eternal night and the nefarious creatures that lurked there to do his bidding. His giant, demonic wings stretched across the plane, shielding it from Yuna’s Light.
Eventually, the two Gods met by happenstance and were transfixed on one another and soon fell in love. The pair had a child named Elias, who became the God of Twilight and Balance. Though with no place to raise him, the two Gods created a third realm, the Realm Inbetween that would become what we know as Everas today.
This new world had qualities of both parents, as the day came, the night would soon come after. Yuna had sent her faeries to help create the flora and fauna, as well as balance the seasons. Oknos sent his fiends into Everas who mated with the animals and created magical, but also dangerous, creatures.
Everas began to grow as time went on and Oknos and Yuna kept creating for their child, his never-ending thirst for new and exciting things never stopped.
From the North where the forests ran deep and the earth was thick, the first people of Everas were created: the Ton’Elia. Later to be called elves by the common folk, they built grand cities within the woodlands among the trees and connected with the roots of the world.
From the East where the mountains were snowcapped and winds could chill any bone came the next people, the Jotuns, or giants. They were reclusive, often hidden within the caverns of the mountain passes and letting other creatures go on about their days before getting involved.
From the South where the volcanoes were hot and arid deserts scorched the earth came the Drakkar, or dragonborns. These mighty people were created in the image of the great dragons of the world and were powerful warriors, ready to take on anything that stood in their way.
From the West where the tides changed and the waves crashed against the shores were the Celesians, or merfolk as they would soon be called. Curious as they were intelligent, merfolk had a knack for healing those and helping land dwellers who wandered too far into the sea.
As Everas expanded, Yuna’s time tending to her world took over her time, for she wanted her creations to live happy and prosperous, without fear of war or bloodshed. Unfortunately, her counterpart disagreed with her. He believed that she was too in love with her creations and that without violence and disagreements, life would not be purposeful. Therefore Oknos created the fourth realm: The Underplane.
