a cautious distance is maintained between harriet and the bane of her father’s entire existence . though she does not worry for her safety , and know herself to be very capable in a fight , she grew up on the stories of the torment her father went through . she used to laugh over the thought of her father being tormented by a child ; it made her feel as though she were not completely powerless against him , that as a child herself , she was capable of fighting back against him as well . but she never had magic on her side , nor did she have an escape either . “ he’s still alive , if you’re wondering . barely . but here’s there . ”
