Happy early birthday to my bestie, @everfairestar! 💕 I finally made good on my promised intent to draw their OC, the Capra, from their original novel series. They've kindly provided the excerpt below:
“I am very old. I am good at guessing these things.” The Capra smiled, then turned to Calin who had been silently watching the exchange. “I should not need to remind you, Calin, that I am obligated to report what I have seen to the Queen. She will ask.” He said as Calin opened his mouth. “I suggest you bring her along, elsewise the Queen will be most displeased.” Calin sighed. The Capra reached out, grasping Calin gently on the shoulders. He stared directly into Calin’s eyes. Ophelia noticed a tenderness in him as he looked at Calin, and it made her wonder. Perhaps… Perhaps he’s as uninterested in me as I am in him. Something about that rang false to her, though she wasn’t sure which part. Ophelia was a capable liar, but she could always tell when she was telling herself a falsehood. It rang like an out of tune string in her head, causing irritation. The Capra and Calin finished their wordless exchange, with Calin tight-lipped by the end, and the Capra’s eyes crinkling into a real smile. The Capra then turned to Ophelia. “Farewell, Ophelia.” He said, voice rumbling. “We shall see what you’re capable of.” Those words said, the Capra disappeared as quickly as he’d arrived. The same heavy feeling, the same loud crack – all of it signalled his leaving. Somehow, it was faster this time, and Ophelia was left staring at the blank space he’d left behind. Calin cleared his throat to get her attention, and she startled, turning to him.
