Hello, so in the last few months I have started playing dnd and listening to adventure zone, my friend and I even displayed as tres horny bois, lup and magic Brian at a con on Saturday, And after learning about them, i now recognise more of your posts about mbmbam and things, I was wondering how long you've been interested in dnd or the McElroys, and if you had tips for a new dnd player

lol I’m glad my incongruous posts make a little more sense, and that cosplay sounds awesome!  I started listening to TAZ about 2.5 years ago.  I’d been told for a few years to listen to Sawbones/MBMaM, but never took the plunge. 

I listened to TAZ on a whim one day, not even realizing the relation between that and the other shows.  That took me (and my friends along with me) into a downwards spiral of loving D&D and the good, good McElboys.  (I honestly almost stopped listening when I initially realized it was about D&D…then I got to Griffin’s description of horse blood and Magic Brian and blew through the back catalogue.)

Most of my D&D tips are “Have fun!” and “Don’t be a dick.”  Establish rules early (like if hitting a number on a d20 is a hit for the attacker or the person being attacked) and STICK.  WITH.  IT. You can go your own way in the game, but consistency is super important. …also feel free to be as insane and creative as you want.  We wouldn’t have Taako without that freedom.

I like to imagine that my own life is a TV series and I usually try to be the interesting side character that the audience actually would like more than the main character ;)

7. What was your worst nightmare you’ve dreamt?

Some weeks ago I dreamt of an old childrens song an woke up on the last note, just to see a grinning face next to my bed that slowly vanished into the darkness. Needless to say, I left the lights on for the rest of the night :D

Answers:

1. Which is the most gross injustice you’ve attended?

When I was in 4th grade, there was a boy in my class who was very intelligent, but a little slow when it came to everyday interactions. German was only his second language and that added to his problems. Our Math teacher hated him, because he would calculate things a lot faster and with a different method than she would teach us, because he had learned it that way in Russia. She woul force him to use her method which he did not understand, because he already knew better ways to calculate things. So he would always get bad grades, even though his solutions were correct.

One day he came back from recess ten minutes late and our Math teacher asked him angrily where he had been and to not make stupid excuses. He truthfully answered her that he had to poop and that it took him a little longer than expected. She started shouting at him in front of everybody that he was disgusting and disrespectful and almost got him suspended for that. I do not remember much from when I was younger, but that is a memory I will never forget. That poor fourthgrader who is being shouted at by a cruel grown woman who should have known better.

2. Have you ever felt like a superhero? (when? :D)

Sadly, I do not recall to have ever done something for the greater good. (But I have many times restrained myself from doing something against the greater good, does that count?)

3. Have you any skills you’d like to enrich?

I would like to use psychology more in day to day life. Like to use all those little things you do more or less subconsciously to manipulate and read people more actively and more effectively.

4. Where do you imagine yourself in 20 years?

This is a tough question, since I am not even sure where I will be next year, so my anwser will be led by my wishful thinking ;)

I imagine myself as the head of a private international laboratory that does forensic work for governments, but also research in a diverse range of disciplines. With a team that exclusively consists of highly motivated and talented people who enjoy what they do and always surprise me with new project ideas.

And I also maybe want a puggle named Topfpflanze.

Damn it, now I have created a way too perfect future and will be frustrated because it will probably never be this great :D

The falling of the masks or How many quirks do you need to obtain to make it count as a personality?

what made you start watching warehouse 13?

Honestly, I just needed to actually sit down and watch it.

Back when I used to be really into Bones, I was always reading posts in the main LJ community, and they always kept tabs on guest stars and their futures after they were on Bones. Back in season 2, Eddie McClintock was on for four episodes, so at some point, I saw a post in the comm discussing how he was going to be in this new show on Syfy called Warehouse 13. I thought, "huh, sounds like a cool show."

And then promptly forgot it existed.

It wasn't until my friend's boyfriend and I were talking during gym class that he brought up the show because he watched it, and I finally sat down to check it out. That was soon after season 2 finished airing, because I remember catching up before Secret Santa aired. I didn't become fully obsessed until I rewatched the series because I wanted my mom to see it, but we all know that happened.

Sorry it wasn't a horribly interesting story, haha.
