The climbing herbaceous perennial Lathyrus latifolius 'White Pearl' (everlasting pea) makes an addition to this wildflower meadow. The inspiration for this planting came from a walk on the white chalk cliffs near Dover where Lathyrus latifolius has naturalised and grows in tangled spheres of stems.

In my local allotments I spotted this old wheelbarrow which has been planted up with Lathyrus latifolius (broad-leaved everlasting pea). This is a vigorous, climbing herbaceous perennial that has winged stems with grey-green leaflets bearing tendrils. The flowers are normally pink but there is a white form Lathyrus latifolius 'Albus', unfortunately neither form of this species is scented. This mobile planter seemed a great idea; allotments are always full of ideas on how to repurpose objects.
