@everlightblessing​ gets a semi-plotted Eddie/Chrissy starter

She wants flowers. That really was the only request Chrissy made for their first time hanging out together like this, whatever this is, since she made sure not to call it boyfriend and girlfriend. He picked a few daisies that he placed on the table in a little vase. 

He lays out a table cloth, something nice in a checkered red and white bandana that the table abandoned in the middle of the woods has never had before. He waits for Chrissy with the little cooler he stole from his uncle on the end of the table. He isn’t exactly a cook but he brought some really great fruits and veggies and cold cut sandwiches for the two of them.

 He can barely sit at the table for longer than a few seconds before getting up and pacing back as forth as he waits for her. He’s half-convinced she won’t show up, that he dreamed the other night in the woods.

Eddie had officially given Chrissy too much weed. She just kept laughing and it was infectious. He tried not to laugh along with her, tried to remain serious, but it was impossible. Chrissy’s laugh was like a bell and he really liked hearing it. When she’d first come to him, she’d been so sad and he’d been unsure if he really wanted to help her out. Not because of her, per se, but because Jason was a class A douchebag. He didn’t have to know Chrissy was hanging out with him though.

Finally, he cut loose and just laughed along with her. Eddie stubbed out what was left of the joint he’d rolled earlier and stored the roach in an empty Marlboro box. He rested his elbows on the picnic table and cocked his head as he admired the girl before him. God, she was beautiful. It was too bad she was dating Jason. He was almost tempted  to ask Chrissy why she was dating that guy but he didn’t want to ruin the buzz. 

“Good stuff?” he asked with a grin.

steve knows the way her social circle communicates, real meaning hidden in the words left unspoken. he knows, because he lived it — practically wrote the manual for it, perched up high in his ivory tower. so steve knows he must look really bad, to get a comment like that. truthfully, he probably feels even worse than he looks; like hell in a handbasket, dustin had lovingly described him. give him a break. he almost eyerolls at the memory before catching himself, remembering his company.

     ‘ yeah. well. you should see the other guy. ’

it’s a shit joke. the other guy isn’t even alive, as far as he knows. dustin sure as shit saw to that with his electro-rod. but really, maybe the guy is alive. what the hell dungeons and caves nonsense were the party ranting on about last night? zombies or cursed undead or something? jesus if he knows, but he wouldn’t put it past hawkins to raise the dead. 

in the interim, steve offers her a split-grin.

     ‘ don’t worry about it, chrissy. so what movie can i help you find? ’

   Dorian glances up to meet her EYES, his words failing him once more. He’s supposed to be good with them, but they seem to be failing every time it matters. He wants to smile, to make a joke and tell Imogen that things are fine, that they always have been fine, but even without her mind reading powers she’d be able to see right through him.

   “Yeah. Yeah, sure.” He mutters, allowing himself to reach down between them to rest his hand on top of her own. “Thank you.” A pause. “Will you tell me what you guys have been up to? You know just...to pass the TIME.”

there’s a grimace in place before she even takes a drink, nose crinkling as she stares into the cup. nope. nope. nope. this is going to be a horrible idea, she can feel it in her bones, and .yet- “it’s like bleach, except i like bleach.”

          surely this was a DREAM     ?    how was chris stood in front of her    ?    last martha knew was that her younger sister was thrown into a coma after visiting eddie munson    -    someone she was still skeptical of, but not of injuring chris, she had gotten to know the boy since then. her words are stuck in her throat, a small part of her believing the shock would bring back her stammer before she steps towards the redhead in this upside down version of hawkins.

"Are you assuming I'd talk to myself?" Robin turned towards Chrissy as if she was asking the most ridiculous question. "Because if you are you are completely and totally right. And in case you are wondering." She continued pacing around the cheerleaders room. A room she was still in shock that she was actually even inside of. "I'd answer myself too. It’s not uncommon at all" That wasn't an answer to the question but it might take Robin a little bit to actually get there. If she actually did. “So I’d probably say a lot of things if you weren’t here.”

"You know I should just leave..." That was when it really struck her that she was in Chrissy Cunningham's house. In her bedroom. And that the other girls mother probably absolutely hated that. Especially from how she'd looked at her like she was dirt on the bottom of her shoe when they'd entered. The town drunk in their pristine home? How disgusting was that? 

"It's really nothing okay?" It wasn't that she didn't appreciate having someone actually care about her - she did - it was more that she wasn't used to it. And she shouldn’t be a girl like Chrissy’s problem. That’s all Robin saw herself as. A problem. A burden that no one wanted. "Thanks for bringing me back here and for wanting to listen but there is nothing to worry about." The busted lip, bruise on her cheek and the way she'd been walking on the side of the road crying told a completely different story but Robin wasn’t sure she should open up. "It's getting late. I should just go home." She wasn't going to go home. Not when her father was this drunk and this angry at her. But Chrissy didn't need to know that.
