The huntress’s eyes glow bright in the dark, a silver flickering of moonlight as she smooths her invisible touch over her husband’s chest.

He squirms, upper arms bound in a crisscross of flowering vines above his head, vulnerable to her whims.

“Do you know how beautiful you are,” she breathes, “laid beneath me like a gift?”

“Katniss,” he pleads (he’s not even sure what he’s pleading for) with the name he gave her that first week when she told him she didn’t have one, and asked him to help her pick.

“Hush, husband,” she whispers teasingly. “What do they say in the human world? ‘All good things to those who wait.’”
