If you could live a day in a life of a fictional character, who would you pick? :3
So this took me a while to answer because I was finishing up my semester at school, but also because I couldn’t think of the answer! I’m lucky enough to be generally very happy with my own reality, so it’s hard to say who else I’d be… But, after much deliberation, I can confirm that I would like to spend a day (or more) in the life of… *drumroll*…
Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. Not the goofy Robert Downey Jr version (though that’s still very loveable), and not the Benedict Cumberbatch one that everyone is going crazy about (which I haven’t seen), but the original literary character. The one who was a genius and an eccentric gentleman (not a bit of… let’s face it, asocial freak).
Several reasons for this.
First, I was always envious (in a good way) of people with remarkable talents. I would love to have the gift of deduction like he did.
Second, I was also always envious (also in a good way) of people with an all-consuming passion. There are a number of things I love and am interested in, but I’d like to experience obsessive passion, loving something so much that you exist in your own reality where that’s the only thing that matters. NB: I’m not talking about his cocaine addiction, but his need to solve crimes and otherwise occupy his mind with puzzles.
Third, his life was pretty damn exciting and fulfilling. He helped solve crimes and correct injustices, and that’s awesome.
