I think I'm nice enough to look at, but I think people make a big deal about my appearance. I think it was like hypnosis, like all of the sudden everybody's been trained: "Okay, now cluck like a chicken!" "Okay, now say David Duchovny's handsome!" I mean, I was a normal-looking kid, and whoever you are and whatever you look like, there are always things you want to change. I just remember that I wished I was blond. And I wished that my nose were smaller and my lips were smaller and my eyes were bigger... you know, everything. -David Duchovny
Ok David thank God you didn’t get your wish , it would have made you so boring !!!
A while ago, I asked the amazing @megdoesart to draw me an alternative cover for David’s album, Every Third Thought. One that would reflect my feelings, when I listened to the music and lyrics. We all have this one person, one we loved and maybe lost, a relationship we never really got over and let go off. That little devil sits on our shoulder, pushing us off balance, turning every third thought into a thought about them. Even if they’re someone else’s girl or guy right now, even if they don’t care when we say we still love them, no matter how hard we try to move on, we simply can’t. That is what I felt and related to, when I listened to the music, but never when I looked at the cover. To me, the original cover never really expressed the character of the artist or the music. The cheeky humour of “Someone Else’s Girl,” the deep melancholy of “Spiral”, the devotion in “Maybe I Can’t,” honesty of “Half Life.” Those are the feelings of a man, who lived a deep and meaningful life, loved and lost, laughed and cried and most of all, learned that one lesson, that only comes with time, that people come and go, but only if we let them go without a fight. Meg did an AMAZING job, taking the graphic I suggested, and turning it into this perfect illustration of themes and feelings, I saw and felt while listening to the music, and for the first time, I’m happy with the CD I hold in my hands. THANK YOU Meg, you are the best.
