Love Reigns Supreme

Sometimes I loose my temper with the people I love. I hurt my friend’s feelings. I am rude to the people around me. I fall short. It drives me crazy when I wrong the people I love, and I over analyze every time I am less then perfect. I have actually lain awake in bed because I lost my temper with my sons and I can’t stop thinking about it, that thought leads to me thinking about all the times I wasn’t “perfect” as their mother. The same goes for my friends, maybe even more so. It’s possible I even had fun hanging out with my pals, but then afterwards I can’t stop wondering if somewhere, somehow I did something wrong.

That kind of thinking isn’t always helpful, of course we want to be better people, but Satan wants us to fixate on the times we weren’t the best friend, instead of all the times we were. 1 Peter 4:8 is our antidote for that kind of thinking. This verse reminds us that Love is greater, stronger and more powerful then anything else. Yes we’re going to fall short, but if we are loving towards those around us that LOVE is going to make an even bigger difference in their lives.

Past Generations

I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.

The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.

The church is a melting pot of generations. In any given U.S. church, the generations gap may be as few as two, but as wide as five. Each generation is unique, which can easily cause bickering among each other.

I love this verse in Psalm 89, and holds as a reminder to us all. Although we have gone through different experiences, we should always be singing God's love forever and make God known to all the generations in our church.

Heavenly Father, help me love the generations before and the ones after me. Amen

Being Called

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

"Being Called," is when God calls an individual for a specific purpose. I believe God does call specific individual, but I don't think everyone has a calling.

Of thousands of people that walked with Jesus, twelve were called to be ninety were given a specific task to spread the gospel (Luke 10:1 - 9).

In the Old Testament stories only covered a select minority of people to do a specific task. It would be the same idea, to think there were only a select few patriots that started the U.S. Though people are not mentioned doesn't mean they are not important, they were just not used for a specific purpose.

If you are specifically called, you should say, "Send Me!" but if you are not called then live a life of good works. Because through your works, your faith will be preached.

Lord, if I am called for a specific reason, I am ready "Send Me," but if not, help me show you in my life. Amen.
