A week ago, I went with my coworker to Dominique Ansel bakery to get one of these:

as a belated birthday gift to my self. Mesmerizing amirite?? Side/Pro tip: Maybe don’t drink it all within 20 minutes cause that shit is RICH. 😬
Anyhowz, my coworker and I were busy slurping up part of the semi-melted marshmallow before we hit road, when I happened to glance up just in time to witness a youngish dude (mid-20s?) who had just walked in catch a reflection of himself in the mirror that runs all along the wall out of the corner of his eye. Semi-distracted by the phone call he was on, yet intrigued by his own reflection, he stepped towards the mirror, gave his face a cursory inspection, then moved on to a full tooth check. I found all this public preening predictable yet still amusing, if only for the candid intensity of the performance, and it looked like it was wrapping up when suddenly It happened.
Just as he was turning to walk away and finally head to the counter to place an order, he turned to look at himself one last time and his chin suddenly dropped and his facial expression changed. His mouth became serious, his cheeks hollowed, and his eyes narrowed. I watched a grown man give himself smolder eyes.
In case you’ve been living under a rock (or as my roommate charmingly suggested) in a shoe and haven’t seen Tangled, let me tell you about the best scene. Actually no, that would take too long. Just spend 45 seconds watching the clip below:
Or if you simply CAN’T be bothered because you’re just TOO busy living your life (yet still reading this blog - jk jk jk don’t stop reading!) and don’t have TIME for a hilarious 45 second clip, then here is the Cliff Notes version:
That is the face that I watched this dude make at himself at a bakery in SoHo at 1pm on a Tuesday.
Here are a few more examples of the face I’m talking about in case you just can’t picture it:
OK, the dude I saw did not put his finger on his lips like that last guy, but I suspect that if he had thought of that move, he would have done it.
I thought the hot chocolate was going to be my treat, but it turned out that the real treat was him. And his eyes. And the eyes he made at himself.
