“Oooh, look at that one, Daddy! Look, see?!” Connor crowed, tumbling through the grass and waving his hands wildly in an attempt to capture the shimmery blue butterfly fluttering just over his head.

“Whoa, careful! You need to be gentle with it; wait till I come help you, bud!” he called before refocusing his attention on the yellow one Brianna was trying to hold. “Slow and quiet...No sudden moves.”

“It tickles,” she whispered, trying not to giggle as the butterfly clung to her fingertip. Chase bent down, smiling as he fished out his phone to film.

31. Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?

Oh, definitely team Take Liberties all the way. Though in the JSE fandom, I feel like people who worry about canon compliance are... missing the point, maybe, is the nice way to say it? The ‘canon’ in this case is just so nebulous and open to interpretation; so much of what people like to call ‘canon’ are really just assumptions. Unless you’re consciously making an AU and giving the egos different jobs or a different setting, every JSE fic is equally canon, tbh. A fic about Anti kidnapping Chase’s kids, a fic about Jackie coming home after a long day of hero work and cuddling up with his boyfriend Marvin, and a fic where Jameson teaches a cooking class are all equal in their relation to canon - none of them have explicitly been confirmed to have happened, but all of them are entirely possible within the parameters of canon that we DO know for sure. And even if they weren’t, they’d all still be completely equal in validity. I think the JSE fandom as a whole would be a lot friendlier if people bore that in mind but hey, that’s just my soap box

35. Would you ever kill off a canon character?

I mean, never say never, but I don’t really see myself doing that tbh - especially not to the Boys (Chase, Henrik, Marvin, Jackie, and Jamie), because I’m just a soft bitch who likes happy fics and it’s not really my style. But again, it’s not like a hard and fast rule I have  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
