Emma sighs as she scratches out her History of Magic Essay off her to-do list. Looking over it, Emma feels satisfied with the work she'd done, though now she's sitting in her bed feeling dead tired. She still has those last few things on her list to finish. She'd meant to see Valerie today and go over her assignments with her and help her start the mentor report. Valerie was going to have a sort of slumber party with her dormmates tomorrow after lessons finish--they thought if the sixth and seventh years could have a ball, they should make their own special fun for the evening. Emma thought it would be easier of she helped Valerie knock the mentor report out now so that they wouldn't have to worry about it while preparations for the ball and Val's girl night were happening.
Emma takes up a bit of parchment and scribbles off a missive for Val. They'll just do it tonight. At least get it started and then the girl can finish up the rest on her own time tomorrow.
As for her need of a place to stay during holiday and learning to apparate. Amelia was her go-to friend. She'd already offered to help her learn and Amelia's a pureblood. Hopefully she and her parents wouldn't mind an interloper for a week and a half.
Emma sends another owl off for Amelia and then does the smart thing and also writes up a brief letter for Alecto and Ally both. She's ready to do this--the poison and antidote are finished and stoppered up in phials, the jewellery is spelled, the burn paste is in her bag already. And she knows where she wants this to happen.
With a sigh, Emma looks at the foot of her bed where her gown for the ball is laid out. She will definitely need the ball after what she's going to do tomorrow afternoon. And she just reminds herself that she'll also get to celebrate her birthday Tuesday. Everything would be okay. It would all go just fine. Alecto will have her proof, Ally will be healed up, she'll have a great time with Evan at the ball, and then she'll turn seventeen and relish that. Because Emma has to. She needs to know that everything will be okay in the end, even if it takes some less than savoury turns to get there.
