I don’t care about that man and don’t know even who is, but I just want to add my two cents to the convo about opinions and the media. I agree that people should learn to accept people’s opinions, but I also think that opinions should be challenged. Not every opinion is to be accepted without any pushback as not pushing back leads to people feeling comfortable enough to say things that are downright ridiculous and offensive to others by disguising those things as personal opinions. The media has caused a lot of damages and normalized hatred because people are now allowed to go on there, be hateful, then say “it’s just my opinion” — a phrase that a lot of people use to excuse their poor thoughts and be nasty to people. We have the freedom to express ourselves as we please, but that doesn’t mean you are free from the social consequences that will come with it.

oh i totally agree. this is what i mean by ‘engaging with’ differing opinions. in this particular scenario, it’s the treating of a film review on a film reviewing site as a cancellable offence simply because you disagree

i’ve always held the opinion of freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom of consequence, and i still maintain that. but we’ve got to the point where people are taking that out of the original meaning of challenging hate speech and truly harmful rhetoric and are now applying it in stan wars and largely insignificant scenarios. that’s where the issue lies. if people don’t feel they have the freedom to publicly have a differing opinion on a movie, how do we expect people to think they can publically oppose the governments and groups we are all being negatively impacted by

The Awesome Coffee Club exists to provide people with the world's best coffee and support efforts to radically reduce maternal and infant mortality in Sierra Leone.

Over 1,500,000 people will die of tuberculosis this year. Many of those people will be pregnant. TB has long been a major cause of non-obstetric maternal death; untreated tuberculosis has a mortality rate of around 40% among pregnant people. And so expanding access to TB treatment (and spreading information about the global tuberculosis pandemic) is central to the work of radically reducing maternal mortality in Sierra Leone and beyond.

15. Do you like fanfics? What is your all-time favorite?

Ok first off you know I like fanfics! But my all-time favorite!? God, how can I choose!!!?

Streak of Luck by @mahkabakachan is phenomenal, to say the least. Nearly everything in from @paperhats-and-evil-schemes series is amazingly well written (Paperhat? I’m Down for That). Grin And Bare It is a BatJokes fic by @badgerdame that I just love. A New Game (I’m not sure if the author is on tumblr) is another BatJokes one that took me on an emotional journey, and it’s actually completed. I can’t leave out Aerospace Accident by @supercasey because that shit hits me right in the goddamn SOUL! How can I chose just one!?!?!

Also honorable mention to Junk Food, a self-insert fanfic about having to buy candy for Pennywise the Dancing Clown so he doesn’t kill and eat you. It hasn’t updated in years but I would really love for it to continue.
