This is the 9th studio album from Spiritualized, coming 4 years after 'And Nothing Hurt'. Coming 30 years after their fantastic debut 'Lazer Guided Melodies', after the less than amicable split of his former band Spacemen 3. Jason and Sonic Boom fell out and that was the end for that chapter in the musical journey of Jason Pierce. While not reaching the heights of 'LAGWAFIS', the most recent releases from Spzd have a certain charm, and are a reflection of where he is right now, older and perhaps wiser, and still retaining the old magic that let 'Lazer Guided...', 'Pure Phase' transcend into the stratosphere, leading to the masterpiece that is 'Ladies And Gentlemen...'. I for one have never looked for the band to replicate that wondrous album, nor should they, purely for the sake of the album standing on its own, a monument to a time when things were different. Yes, all the familiar Spzd tropes are there, the psychrock pulse and drone, the gospel flecks, the soul surges, the horn bursts and shoegaze walls of sound, the blues rockouts, the jazz wigouts, all merged into one glorious package, and perhaps it may make you think you've heard it before, but that's the joy of a Spiritualized album, it's the old and the new all coming together to create something newer still. #Spiritualized #EverythingWasBeautiful #BellaUnionRecords #JasonPierce #shoegaze #psychrock #spacerock #blues #soul #gospel (at Kings Norton, Birmingham, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgnOrs0ocyD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
