We grounded the living room with a brown and white wool rug, drawing from the adjacent family room's earthy hues. The coordinating colors and textures create an aesthetically pleasing connection between the two rooms.

The Whole Is Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts

Aristotle figured it out a long, long time ago.  And, we couldn't agree more. In design, there are so many elements – some that can stand alone, some that can’t.  Rhythm is what pulls it all together to create a comforting, welcoming space. Our designs integrate colors and shapes to create a rhythmic flow.  One color might be used as the primary in one space, as a secondary color in an adjacent space and as an accent in the next, to visually lead people from room to room.  Photo groupings, lighting patterns and floor patterns can use the same rules and have the same effect in hallways.    Rhythm is introduced in many ways.  Subtle colors and shapes, repetition and gradation, textures and patterns are used to bring all the parts together to create collective harmony.

Harmony Begins at Home

Because there's more to design than meets the eye, we at Fiori Interior Design look for the reasons behind what looks good, what feels good and why it works. Symmetrical doesn’t mean identical. Note how the end tables balance each other, even though they’re different shapes. From the pillow fabrics to the custom window treatments, harmony is achieved through complementary colors, patterns and materials with a seamless transition into the next room.

Everything’s Under Control

If you’re like most people, you have a deep-seated need for a sense of control. It doesn’t mean you are power hungry or a control freak; you just don’t like feeling out of sorts.

The proper design and a few simple measures will help foster the feeling of control in your home.  A few ideas:

·      Include several small, moveable, multifunctional furniture pieces into your space.

·      Plan independently-controlled task lighting and make sure sound controls are easy to reach.

·      Incorporate portable privacy screening to help minimize distractions.

·      Ask your designer to prioritize the best options for your space. Too many choices can be overwhelming.
