I know that you (rightfully) have a lot of issues with Sherlock and the portrayal of Adler, and you've made some interesting points about her character in Elementary. But I was wondering if you have any thoughts about the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies and their portrayal of Adler?

It’s been a while since I watched those movies, but I seem to remember them being a less frustrating version of similar problems I had with BBC Irene. She’s a love interest, working for Moriarty, who dies.

Hey is there a new X-Factor Investigations after the run that ended with Multiple Man having a baby with Layla and retiring in 2013? I know there was an All-New X Factor run but it didn’t have Rictor and the other original characters. Are they back?

Sorry to break it to you, but no. 

(Although All-New X-Factor was better than the rep it had IMO. The first two arcs at least--didn’t care for the Axis shit but then again I didn’t care for that whole event, so...)

But Wolfsbane, Rictor and Strong Guy are currently in New Mutants: Dead Souls and while I haven’t checked it out myself yet (I do plan on it though) from what I’ve heard/seen it sounds/looks pretty good!

I've been thinking about this a lot because Tony was so pissed at Diane for defending Finn and wanted to leave her for it (to be with her daughter might I add) and now Diane is literally just doing the same thing that he did. I don't get why no one is pointing that out. It's the same scenario.

I can’t remember when it was but tony literally pointed it out recently, he even brought it up. and i’m like, dude, you were right about the finn thing the first time around. you don’t get to say “oh well you defended your son committing a horrible crime that destroyed someone’s life so now I wanna do the same thing and still keep the moral high ground”. they want it both ways.

they’re not pointing it out because we’re supposed to think diane is a stuck up bitch and harry is the victim in all this. poor harry, beating himself up inside for nearly a year thinking that he’s killed a woman when really it was ryan. idk how many times we need to say that ryan actually doing it doesn’t make harry’s actions any better

and lol, today when harry got arrested it was totally ~heroic with the music and everything like dude, handing yourself in at this point is the bare fucking minimum. like??? i would be fine with the plot if we weren’t supposed to feel bad for harry. and fucking ste, ste telling james that he would still be with harry and he could get over that he murdered the mother of his children. stop!!!!! this is horrific writing. this goes against everything they’ve been telling us about ste for the better part of five years. i hope leah barnes grows up to destroy them tbh!!!!!!!

The Theresa “I shot a man to death but I feel really bad about it so I shouldn’t be punished for it and the people trying to put me in jail are evil” storyline will piss me off for the rest of my existence.

like my heart hardly bleeds for calvin who was terrible but it would have been better if they just pretended it never happened, but they had to bring back sonny to coast on the popularity of ricky whittle and nathalie emmanual, but they still never wanted theresa to face any real consequences. and they just treated sonny like a villain and yeah, he was using carmel and he was bad to her but he did nothing wrong by seeking justice for his murdered brother. it’s racism obviously.

Probably the only reason why I'm clinging on to the hope of Rey being related to SOMEONE important because why else with all the secrecy? If she's just random then why make it such a big deal?

yeah same. Like they were open about Rey Solo not happening, they were open about Rey Erso not happening. What is the benefit to keeping Rey Skywalker alive to no payoff? 

The only thing I can think of is that they were afraid that Rey couldn’t generate buzz without the parentage debate. Which is troubling on its own.

I don't know if you've posted about this in the past, but how did you get started in self-publishing? What helped you along the way? :)

Ha. Well, I kind of stumbled into it when I stumbled into the online Jane Austen fandom at meryton.com, and realized that you could actually publish Jane Austen fanfic due to all her works being out of copyright. Like an idiot, I didn’t ask anyone for advice, though. I just muddled my way through Amazon Kindle and somehow, without any advertising or fanfare at all, managed to sell 3,000 copies of my first book (The Best Of Relations) within 3 months.

Austen fic, however, is a special case. There’s a market out there who will literally buy every single thing released in the genre, and if they like it they will talk to their friends about it. When I started (under this pen name) releasing my original erotica, I found out just how hard it is to build a market for something completely new when you don’t already have a built-in fanbase like that.

There is LOTS of advice out there available, though. Blogs like Joanna Penn at thecreativepenn, and many others. I’ve reviewed a number of really handy books on how to self-publish; I think the best one on getting started is Let’s Get Digital by David Gaughran - you can see my review of it here.

Best of luck if you’re thinking of dipping a toe in the self-publishing waters yourself!
