Why Trent... if only I knew that, lmao! Nah, I can answer this, at least to a certain extent.
The most obvious reason is that I've always had a thing for villains. It was one of the biggest ironies of my life that I ended up in love with the lawful good moral posterboy of an entire science fiction franchise for almost 20 years. And now I think my mind simply thought it needed to make up for those years by falling in love with the exact opposite, lol.
Putting this reason aside tho (since it's a very generic one) there are specific aspects about Trent that I adore. He knows what he wants and goes for it. (With questionable methods but still.) He is ruthless. Determined. Sneaky if he has to be. He's a skilled liar and propagandist who likes to be in charge and pull the strings - but to me, all this signals "what if he meets someone whose strings he CAN'T pull because that person sees through his nonsense from the start". I always fall for men who seem aloof and out of touch with their feelings (often due to trauma) and since I'm in a similar position I understand them instinctively. If he was real Trent would not be the first man in my life whose walls I'd manage to break through. My instinct tells me there's a forgotten Trent somewhere in there, a scared and vulnerable and insecure guy who got buried a long time ago. And I want to get to know this Trent. And I want to be the only one who gets to see this Trent.
Aside from all that, yes I do love that he's a powerful archmage and rich and whatnot but these are just bonuses. It's not his position or his powers or his wealth. It's the guy, first and foremost.
Of course it also doesn't hurt that he is voiced by Mark Strong and that he has this adorable German Zemnian accent that makes German Me swoon. Normally it would not, I don't think a German accent is particularly sexy, but with Trent it's different.
I love to imagine Trent and me having this thing where we speak to each other in a mix of Zemnian and Common but sometimes it's just Zemnian because it IS our native language and there would be times when we just couldn't be bothered with Common. It's such a wonderful coincidence that we speak these same two languages. With a mysterious and aloof man like Trent a lot depends on finding the right words and what better language than German Zemnian to either find words or simply put them into existence whenever you need them? So yeah this adds to my love for Trent, too.
