...if so, do people know the truth and point it out? Or is the reader now the only one who knows the loved one was wrong? OR does the loved one cover it up? Try to protect the dead character's honour despite the supposed betrayal? Then how do they find out they were wrong? By eventually admitting it to someone? By accident?? That one cowardly character who knew all along finally coming forward? So many mashed together evil possibilities to make that loved one suffer.

I guess it totally depends on what the situation is like.. and also depends on the loved one’s character.. :) Yes.. evil possibilities a plenty here.
