Crawling outta hell long enough to bring y'all a fresh bittersweet concept for dead sea: serizawa feels what can be best described as intense *phantom grief* over Reigen. I don't quite grasps the specifics of what was shared during 100% friendship because I'm Very Dumb, but I can see the shared emotions and memories being super strong. It's a strange set of feelings to have towards someone he's literally never spoken too and seen once. Lover of pain and hella unreasonable angst, Satan anon <3

Okay, Satan, let me talk about that.

From my understanding, psychic power is primarily powered through emotions and conflict (thank you, Mogami arc, I read ye yesterday), so here’s my thought: Mob transferred not specifically memory to Serizawa, but the emotions tied to every memory he had, or at least the experiences he needed to get across to Serizawa. Thus, it’s my belief that Serizawa didn’t see Mogami as much as he felt Mogami. He didn’t see the bodies in Mob’s home as much as he felt the emotions that swam inside Mob upon discovery. I do think images were tied in with it, but I like the ideas of images flashing for just moments, but the emotions linger, tied now to his pyschic powers, so he can experience them for a length of time. Serizawa might not completely understand Reigen as an individual. Instead, he only sees Reigen for how Mob sees Reigen, or rather, how Mob feels Reigen.

So. When Serizawa sees Reigen for that split second, he’s feeling something that isn’t his but still undoubtedly inside of him; admiration, love, reliance, safety. He grasps how important Reigen is because Seri can feel it inside of him. But then there’s that explosion, and the sharp, almost chemical smell of energy and seared metal and something else, and then the tall man who isn’t tall but always acted like he was, the man who spoke as if he had an audience staring at him at all times, is crumbled on the floor, is not moving, Seri can feel this affection, this love that is not his, reel and roil and turn to something dark and cold and liquid in his stomach.

It’s an interesting idea, Seri mourning over someone he doesn’t know. I feel as though he would be in this stasis of shock, his mind telling him there’s no reason to mourn a man he doesn’t know, but his emotions are shrieking in his body and he has never felt so great a pain in all of his days.
