The Pressure is On || Xander, Sky, Cade & Dani
The fall of his senior year had Xander in a tail spin - namely, his college applications. Soccer scouting didn't ease the process, but merely changed what he had to do. If anything, it made it a little bit harder. He had to compile his applications for the various schools and submit them to the scouts instead of the Admissions Office, like everyone else was doing. After some arm twisting, Skylar (who, though a year younger than her brother, was already taking community college classes before she applied to her dream schools) agreed to help Xander with his application process. Initially, she'd set out a schedule for him. However, in true Xander fashion, he ignored it until the weekend before his applications were due to the scouts. That left him parked in the kitchen, his computer, transcript, test scores and essay drafts sprawled all over his moms' kitchen counter.
"Sky, I'm never going to get all of this done!" The blonde, coming in almost a foot taller than his sister, whined before laying his head down on the counter.
"Well, you would if you had stuck to my schedule..." Skylar smirked, moving from in front of the refrigerator to stand next to her older brother.
"Really, you're going to gloat right now?"
"What?"
"Sky, I'm freaking out!"
"Yes, you are," She replied with a nod. "However, everyone warned you that college applications would snowball on you if you didn't get things done in pieces."
"No, not everyone. You and Ella warned me. Everyone else thought you both were psychotic." Xander retorted before grabbing his transcript and glancing at it. "Nevermind, I lied. I don't need your help. What I need is some Monster and to be left alone, and I'll get it done. You're not helping."
"I'm trying to help, Xan!" The irritation in her voice was evident, and she grabbed his SAT scores to read through a paper she'd read through countless times before. "I'm trying to help, honest. You're just in full-blown Momma Blondie meltdown mode. I can't get you down off that ledge, no way."
The boy took a deep breath before getting off the barstool and beginning to pace. "What needs to get done first?"
"Well," Sky sighed, putting his papers in order. "How about this, I'll input your grades and your scores, because all that is is entering data, it's nothing earth-shattering. You get to work on the essays, and we'll meet in the middle?" Xander nodded and grabbed the notebook he'd decided would be nothing but college essays. Skylar had printed out his essay topics weeks beforehand, so all he had to do was plop himself on the couch and get to work.
Twenty minutes had gone by, giving Xander and Skylar enough time to get into a rhythm. Right as Xander had a huge break on one of his eight essays, Dani and Cade burst through the front door, cackling (almost) maniacally. Callie and Arizona had begged the pair to get lost for the day, knowing that Xander was subject to at least one meltdown.
Coming through the kitchen, Dani and Cade raided the fridge for something to eat, not paying attention to the fact that Skylar and Xander were both hard at work. It took about 2 minutes for Xander to completely lose his shit.
"I thought the Mommas Gay asked the both of you to scram for the day?" He called from his spot on the couch, not letting up on the poor notebook on his lap, full of cross-outs, half torn pages, and a couple of pressure-induced rips.
"Xander, it's like 4PM. We did scram for the day," Dani replied, mouth full of (still cold) leftover macaroni and cheese from the night before.
"Not really, I need the downstairs to get these applications done. Aren't there food and video games at Cade's apartment?"
"Nope, sorry Baby Blondie." Cade replied, getting into the mac and cheese in Dani's hand. "I'm waiting to get paid before my fridge can see new life."
"Dani, Cade," Sky looked at the both of the girls and jerked her head, motioning for them to leave. "Go to my house or something. My mom's been in a cooking mood this week, so my fridge is stocked. But we really need to do work here."
Dani and Cade looked between each other. "We'll just go into my room, it's not a big deal. We'll order pizza and go watch movies in my room. Pretend we're not here or something," Dani offered with her biggest smile.
"Guys, I don't care where you go, but get the fuck out of here! This stuff is due Sunday night at midnight, and I'm really behind!" Xander got off the couch and came into the kitchen. "I mean it. I'm trying to get out of the hospital bubble and go somewhere next year, and that starts with the both of you going somewhere other than here."
Dani leaned in to Cade and whispered, "Wow, I think Xan-der needs a Xan-ax." Cade's jaw dropped to the floor and she offered the highest of fives, before looking at Xander, who was royally pissed.
"Sorry, dude, she saw the opportunity and took it. That's like the number one rule of the Bro Code."
"Danielle, you are so not helping." Sky warned before going back to the computer.
"Oh shit, we're in a lot of trouble. Worse than when I convinced Sky to get an extra cookie out of the jar trouble. Let's go back to my place and we'll order pizza or something. C'mon, Scottsdale." Cade grabbed Dani's arm and dragged her into the entry way, through the front door and into the car.
All Xander could do was hope that his rage drove his motivation and helped him get shit done faster.
Slim chance, but better than nothing at all.

Hmm, there’s a lot of people that I love and respect so I won’t list them all. Instead, I’m going to say the three people who I love para writing with because I think that’s becoming a lost art and these people always have beautifully sculpted replies:
nostalgicvampire, theuselesscarmilla and djbecs-m. They're just amazing, all of them. <3
I will never, ever complain about spending a Friday night at home. It's nights like these where I scroll through Twitter/Facebook and find gems like these.
"#cantwaittobeanadult". God bless the internet.
(Disclaimer: no photoshop was used in the making of this embarrassing discovery.)
