MINI-BIO: "UK grinders EVISORAX have just announced the vinyl issue of their boundary-crushing 2020 album "Ascension Catalyst" on 7 Degrees Records. The release distils the devastating impact of razor-sharp grindcore, the punishing attack of sludge metal and the unsettling ambient discord of harsh noise into a single weighty slab of wax, featuring distinctive artwork from Soulsdue that compliments its concept perfectly.

PART II: "Ascension Catalyst" saw EVISORAX founder Dan Lynch and long-time skin-beater Simon Brotherton (Ex-NARCOSIS/ ERGON CAROUSEL) joined by the drummer’s former band mates John White on vocals and Oliver Turner on bass. John temporarily laid his axe aside to lay down some intensely tortured vocals and contrastingly enlightening lyrics that form a transcendental journey that the album hangs its concept on. Underpinning and enriching it all is Oliver’s punishing yet hypnotic bass work, which adds a whole new dimension to the Evisorax sound."

BEEN THERE, DONE IT, BOUGHT A MAGRUDERGRIND TEE...

Currently on self imposed house arrest- bleached my roots an now the first inch of my hair refuses to accept toner… at least have enough records and tea supplies to keep me sane for at least twenty four hours- I think.

It’s taken me at least three days to catch up on sleep from the weekend. I enjoyed Blehhhhhh...  despite only catching twenty minutes of Magrudergrind and missing Bridge Burner (forever distraught)- although I did fill my quota of  Chris Moore produced blast beats. It’s been a decent while since I watched a show in London, The Exchange has stolen my heart. … for the past decade (and a bit) that I’ve been attending shows I’ve seen more bands than I can sensibly remember, even fewer have completely blown me away. It's no secret that  I’m a compete bitch in terms of what I chose to repetitively listen to. I’m not really sure if my music tastes are directed to any specific genre these days, I fall in love with anything that sounds slightly fucked up…. (currently +HIRS+) I went to that show looking forward to seeing Evisorax and Magrudergrind- and I can honestly say (and without any bias) that they definitely both made the greatest impact.  Both bands seem to capture a completely frenzied intensity live.  Although there are a few honorable mentions (Human Cull).... nothing else really blew me away. Evisorax go from strength to strength in terms of writing. The last time I saw them live was about three years ago- prior to a change of vocalist and although they caught my attention back then... mainly due to Oblongata... I can’t help but feel that a change of line up brings it all together- Si is fucking vicious.  I’m always blown away by how impressively tight Dan and Brod are- when members of a band merge together that well it takes things to another level.  Pretty excited to hear more than twenty second samples of the new record. Glad to see that my bestie is back on his feet (pun intended). Magrudergrind are one of the bands that made me rethink my attitude towards the genre.  Simple yet catchy riffs, politically charged lyrics, and the odd well chosen sample or two adding to the mix.  Whilst I have no doubt that a large percentage of that they do is based on technical ability, they're writing isn't pretentious and it's that punk rock attitude combined with genuine talent that draws me in. I’m aware that most hardcore grind/ power violence fans hate the incorporation of groove... and whilst I appreciate the beauty of fast pace tempo, its the incorporation of those slower paced elements that draws me in. It’s been two years since they released ‘Crusher’, so I’m praying for a new record at some point this year. Really need to fix my digital camera so I can capture myself some show memories- phone batteries are so fucking unreliable these days. 

More than anything I’m amazed that I managed to keep myself away from the Bones Brigade distro- what the hell is wrong with me?
