I use Family Echo also. It is a decent way to track your families. I haven't used it for more than 4 generations yet though so I don't know how crazy the tree might get with mingled founding families.

I think it’ll be fine for tracking lots of generations. It’ll just get...big and sort of unwieldy, but at least you can pan around the screen and focus in on just one branch and such. I’ve used other, offline, genealogy programs, and while they have more features (Most of which wouldn’t be relevant to Sims, anyway), they’re much more cumbersome than this. And since I have a web browser open while I play, anyway, so that I can use the random number generator I use while playing, it’s not a problem to have a Family Echo tab open, too.

iCad, I think Family Echo is great for massive interrelated family trees!! I have the kind of hood you described, and sometimes I've spent tons of time just clicking around, to see who's relate to whom.

But it seems like you can only start a tree from one person? How do you start one for a neighborhood with unrelated founders and have them intermingle instead of being completely separate trees? I admit, I am brand new to using this, but I don’t see anything obvious in the very few controls.... But if it’s possible, I’ll put one together for my other neighborhoods, too. Because yeah, I’d do that, too, click around and figure out the relationships. I don’t know why I find it so intriguing because I’m not into genealogy for real people, but in Sims it’s kind of fun to know if someone’s marrying their third cousin once removed. *laugh*

So....tips? :)

Yeah, if you’ve got big breeders, it’s certainly not hard to have a crapton on names in the thing, even after just a couple of generations starting from one person. If I can figure out how to get multiple, intermingling trees, it’ll be even worse. But that’s what makes it interesting. To me, at least. I’m kind of a nerd that way.
