Evune!! I finished hers finally!

Despite having less scars than Rowan hers were more time consuming to draw

Here’s the summary

Bg1: scars on arms from battles but she doesn’t have many due to her strategy being hide and shoot from a distance, she also has scrapes, scars and calluses on her hands from frequent archery which could fade but she never takes a long enough break for that to happen, those are just harder to see because the hands in this are quite small and dont have a view of the palm side

Irenicus: these scars are from Irenicus’ experiments, most of his torture was done magically, chemically, and mentally so these are the ones that lasted beyond the manor

Soul taken: when Irenicus first took her soul, I wanted it to look like her soul was ripped out

Soul missing over time: im hc that as she and imoen got weaker and felt themselves dying the necrosis grew and took over more of their bodies because that looks cool as hell

Soul restored: after getting her soul back the necrosis went away and left an actual scar behind, again, I wanted it to look like her soul was ripped out. This is her final design going into ToB and her appearance as a spirit in bg3 as I chose not to include the injuries from her murder in her bg3 appearance.

Fun Evune fact:

A nickname jaheira and Khalid have for her is ‘Evie’

She hates it when they call her that in front of the party during bg1 because she wants to be taken seriously and it’s embarrassing dad! Plus it means that some companions start calling her that to annoy her

By the end of bg1 she doesn’t really care lol but she still mostly prefers people use her actual name except for her parents, imoen, any good aligned gorions ward, Aerie and probably others but I don’t feel like listing them out bc I’m lazy.

Three simple questions for your oc

1. Why is your character's eye colour the way it is? Is it random, or not?

Evune’s eyes are green because the I thought the original portrait I used for her which is where her design originated from… it didn’t lmao.

I think my brain remembered the green from the outfit and thought it matched her eyes? Also this portrait is really pretty I love it and still see it as Evune if she were more realistic since I can’t draw realism lol. I should paint over it to make it match Evune’s eyes and hair style... The blue-purple eyes are pretty and maybe if I realized her eyes would have been that color too but I’m too attached to them being green now lolll plus it gives her a different look than Clara (the original portrait) so that’s good.

Rowan’s eyes being orange actually had A LOT of thought put into it. There are two main reasons 1. Orange is the opposite of blue on the color wheel, blue is Evune’s signature color and I wanted Rowan’s signature color to be the complementary color to Evune’s, it’s not the exact shade because I maintain creative freedom but that’s why they’re orange. 2. Orange to me is a middle color between red and yellow, with red being more dangerous/severe warning and yellow being a mild yield, I wanted Rowan to be in the middle to represent how her path could go either way. Also, while I haven’t done any art of her yet, Rowan when she was the chosen of bhaal pre bg3 I would color her eyes to be more red tinted than her usual design.

2. Who gave your character their name?

Jaheira gave Evune her name, with Khalid’s agreement of course lol. In my headcanon ‘evune’ is an archaic druidic word for moonflower that’s meant to be a play on selune because the ‘une’ is pronounced the same way. As for why her name is evune irl I’ve answered this in another ask but the short story is that I looked up ‘elvish word for moon’ and I found Evune and said ‘okay sure’ but it was actually dragon age not dnd but that’s her name now so I made up an in universe connection to the moon to keep her symbolism 😂 I’m also realizing this is the second time I made a mistake with Evune but I got attached so that’s just how it is now…

Rowan has had multiple names in her life but I’ll talk about her pre-bg3 name and her current name of Rowan. Her old name was Veres (a Hungarian/romanian surname meaning red and sometimes being associated with blood) and it was given to her by the temple of bhaal members after a they decided she needed a new name to reflect her status as Bhaal’s chosen. She didnt dislike it per se but she felt ambivalent about it, like yep that sure is what people call me sometimes. In truth she didn’t often get called by her name anyway, instead she was usually referred to by titles ‘the chosen’ ‘Bhaal’s chosen’ etc. or in Orins case ‘sibling/sister.’ As for the name Rowan, she gave it to herself. She wanted a nature-y name for her new role of being a Druid and after going through a bunch of options she settled on Rowan because rowan trees are said to ward off evil spirits and are a symbol of protection and she felt in need of protection from the urge which certainly felt evil. Also Rowan berrys are red which link with her old name and I like connection like that in my characters lol

3. Does your character have tattoos? What do they mean?

No, neither do. They already have multiple scars I have to keep track of when drawing I’m not adding tattoos I have to remember too 😭 post game Rowan might get a tattoo, she wouldn’t be opposed to the idea certainly, but I don’t know.

I never even met him but if people think of who my father is he’s the first thing that comes to mind. I understand that he’s my biological father but it shouldn’t be a point of confusion who I’m referring to when I say “my dad” or “my father” I’m obviously talking about you!

Khalid: I- I-I suppose that p-people find being the child of a d-dead god more attention grabbing than me, but I will a-always be your father; just as you will always be my daughter, n-no matter what they think.

Evune: I’m ready to put all my weapons training to the test!

Khalid: R-remember Evune, while violence is, more often than I’d p-prefer, required; it should not be a desirable outcome.

Evune: well yeah… but just in case the assassins come back to kill us, I’m just saying I’m prepared

Khalid: *chuckles* in that case, I am glad

Khalid: I suppose they have some s-similarities, they are both… (cuts himself off) c-cities next to the ocean.

Oh lord this would be long if I included everyone Evune would say she loves as a friend 😂 I'll stick to the major ones. She loves dynaheir and Minsc and they are members of her canon party and she is heartbroken at dynaheirs death.

She loves Rasaad, they're moon buddies! And they can have secret (albeit basic due to her ability and Khalid can obviously understand them conversations in Alzhedo. She's also good friends with Neera. In bg2 she becomes very close with Aerie. Especially near the end of their relationship I think Evune would say she loves Viconia as well (fun fact Vicey and Evune's friendship is left over from the old version of her story) there is a ‘who does your oc love (familial)’ and she does love imoen as a sister and as a friend so I guess imoen counts for both

Who would your oc say is their best friend

She would have a hard time answering this question but I’ll answer it for her that it’s probably Imoen. While they didn’t grow up together like in canon they still are childhood friends but they were pen pals! They considered eachother as cousins due to the distance and well Gorion is kinda like Evune’s uncle so jaheira and Khalid are kinda imoens aunt and uncle. They thought it was pretty cool they were siblings after their shared heritage was discovered (though they wished they shared the same mother rather than bhaal lol) + they got shared Irenicus trauma lol.

Is there someone your oc didn’t like at first (copy pasted)

Two people come to mind for Evune, Skie and Viconia. With Skie, Evune was very frustrated and annoyed with her antics during SoD and snapped at her when pushed too far but near the end Evune wonders that even if she was right that Skie deserved to be treated as the other soldiers and not be given special treatment and that she could potentially put the rest of the coalition in jeopardy if caught by the crusade, if she was too harsh. The two make up and are on good terms... until Skie is murdered.

For Viconia they didn't not get along at first necessarily. They definitely had opposing philosophies and Evune felt a bit wary of her Shar worship but Evune couldn't leave her to be harmed or even killed for crimes she didn't commit just because she was a drow. So while they weren't friends Evune did advocate for her. In bg2 they do become friends and by the end Viccy's alignment changes because it doesn't have to be romanced lock in MY fanfic she is influenced by the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP! Their friendship originated from the old version of Evune's story that was more canon compliant where Khalid's death threw her into a deep depression and Viconia wanted to influence her (cause loss...

Shar... get it?) but ended up getting uno reversed. In the new version of the story I didn't want to get rid of the Viconia friendship even if Evune was dealing with a more emotional loss than a literal one

Rowan: oh boy oh boy oh boy YES. For companions she did not care for Astarion or Wyll at first but especially Astarion. She didn't care for his snark or his advances, at least he was aligned with her in the fact that they don't have the time to save everyone! (Except we need to save Halsin for the Druids but that's different —she swears— she NEEDS to get goodwill) if asked her opinion on Astarion being a vampire she would say "it's not that I care that he's a vampire, I just don't like him." Though as she comes to understand him, see his scars, his past, his victims, she realizes that they are very similar and even if they weren't best friends she deeply wanted him to break free of his master (wonder why?) their relationship would really hit a turning point after Araj and his trauma as she has similar trauma in forcing herself to go along with situations she did not want to be in for the appeasement of others and it was easier to go along than stand firm. They reach an understanding of each other from then on their relationship is very positive.

As for Wyll she was fine with him but more annoyed at his heroics and a bit frightened by how the blade would react if he found out about her urges- he'd surely attack her right? but they were aligned in wanting to not raid the grove and save Halsin, and if he's turned into a devil she's like "if he thinks he's a monster when he's literally the best man what would he think of me?" But Wyll being Wyll wins her over with his charm and she wonders if she should strive to be more like him and maybe she has a teeny tiny crush on him shhh

As a bonus she didn't entirely get along with Jaheira at first but that was more of a 'wtf is going on why am I so emotional I'm so confused' rather than a 'I don’t like her’

Who has brought your oc to tears? (btw I’m interpreting ‘brought to tears’ as brought to tears but not actually crying)

Evune: Probably a lot of people lol but I’ll say Viconia for some comments and her dipping at the end of bg2, skie for frustration tears (not when she died Evune did actually cry at that) Coran when she belived Evune killed skie despite everything, other people crying causes her to tear up

Rowan: Jaheira, it’s a canon event lol, when Rowan sees jaheira for the first time Evune’s emotion is so overwhelming that Rowan feels it too and is brought to tears without knowing why. Evune technically as well, and the player if they talk her into using the slayer form.

Who has made your oc cry?

Evune: A LOT OF PEOPLE LOL, most obvious Seravok and Irenicus (the latter made her cry a lot lmao) and bhaal (if he counts), the dukes when they kicked her from Baldurs gate, herself, and finally jaheira, Khalid, Minsc, and imoen for accepting her mistakes (happy tears)

Rowan: Gortash numerous times, bhaal again if he counts, the player if they betray her in the end, and herself/the urge when she killed alfira/quil. Rowan is much less of a cry baby than Evune is
