multiples of six for duke and ace!!!
!! thanks! sorry this is late.
6. how they deal with grief. this is literally their main focus for most of the novel. :3 ace compartmentalizes in the moment, finds the thing that caused his grief, and enacts revenge because he thinks that will make him feel better. he has a tendency to ignore things like food and sleep and other people in favor of revenge-getting. duke is bad at compartmentalizing, but tries very hard. he thinks up poetry but doesn’t have the supplies to write it down, tries very hard not to cry until he can’t stop sobbing. has panic attacks. keeps going.
12. their romantic life. welllll ain’t that the Golden Question. ace was dating cody before the novel, but cody. well. let’s just say he ain’t making an appearance in the novel. (he dies, it’s not a spoiler if it tells u in the first paragraph of the novel anyway). duke had (has) a massive crush on ace that he never wants to tell ace about, because ace had been dating cody. and cody is/was duke’s older brother. so, that wouldn’t have worked out for anyone involved. cody’s dead now, though. and ace and duke have been camping with each other for weeks, now. ace is very handsome and smart, and duke’s feelings aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. something’s got to give.
18. how they sleep. ace sleeps like a rock, and he’s one of those lucky jerks who always wakes up exactly when he wants to. he sleeps perfectly still and can sleep almost anywhere. duke fidgets and talks in his sleep, but he’s still a fairly heavy sleeper himself. he can wake up early as long as the sun has risen, and is working on being able to wake up when he wants but isn’t quite to that point yet. he’s getting there.
24. what motivates them. ace wants to kill the raptor that killed cody. duke wants ace to be happy again, and maybe also to kiss ace but he’s too scared to ever act on that particular feeling.
