Exacum Affine
Common Name: Persian Violet
Origin: Yemen
Identification: The Exacum affine grows to around 15-30 cm in height and spread. It forms a dense bush of leaves with small flowers growing all over. The leaves are small, green and ovate. The E. affine flowers all year and continuously. Most cultivars have small purple fragrant flowers, but some are white.
Information: The E. affine is a small biennial plant belonging to the family Gentianaceae. In its natural environment, it grows in rocky areas. It is a very attractive but short-lived plant, and is difficult to keep growing for a long period of time.
Growing Tips: The Exacum affine requires well-draining soil. It grows best in warm temperatures and is therefore suitable for growing indoors. The E. affine should have plenty of light but kept out of direct sunlight. It should be watered regularly and the soil should not be left to dry out.
