Today I proctored a three hour Psy.D. research comp exam.
Students make the craziest faces and actions during exams. They sign to themselves; crunch up their face revealing all the potential wrinkles; stretch the skin of the face back as if attempting a face lift; or stare in the abyss of the test itself with eyes wide with fear and loathing. One girl almost gnawed off her finger. I was waiting for her to ask for a tissue to wipe off all the blood. One guy's eyes almost bugged out of his face upon turning the page and viewing the next question. I really wish I could have recorded this scene.
I wonder how I look when taking an exam. I'm already known for making a variety of faces. I'm sure the ones I make out during an exam are priceless.
Oh, and not to mention, you could cut the tension in that room with a knife. I could have easily served every one a slice of tension...too much? Not funny? Okay, okay.
I wish I could say the tension dissipated after each one left, but these students have to wait three weeks for their results. I'm hoping they all pass...especially the ones that finished in 30 minutes and those that took up the entire three hours to finish.
