I’m not going to lie to you, I have gotten barely any work done today - my last maths exam is tomorrow and I just have had no motivation to study for it because of how horrendously yesterday’s went. I’ve already ranted about this on twitter and stuff but just these Edexcel exams have been nothing like their specimen papers or text book questions or practice papers, you basically have to decode what it’s asking you to do, trying to interpret never before seen notation, and then you have to use obscure methods anyway. It’s just unfair because I’ve done all of their past papers and the textbook questions, been an A/A* borderline student all year and I got 46% in that paper and I just, that’s not a challenging paper, that’s an inaccessible one, you know. I probably sound like I’m whining but that paper wasn’t designed to reflect what students can do, a friend of mine said he had to use a further maths identity for one of the questions, and it’s just not fair or representative of all the work I’ve put in. This exam season the exam boards, from questions on irrelevant characters in Othello who are more plot devices than characters to these maths exams, have made me hate subjects I love. I loved my English texts, and I’ve always loved maths, and now I find myself scared I’ve missed my grades for my dream university and I don’t know what to do. That’s it for today.
