What are your thoughts on Norse Mythology as a serious religion? Do you practice it, or do you just study it from an academic or historical or literary angle?
Wow, Nonny, you give me a lot more credit than I am due.
I don’t practice it, and I don’t have any interest in doing so. I wouldn’t even say I study it; I just read it. I think it’s the bomb-diggity. I also think that from a literary perspective, at least in translation, there’s a lot wrong with it; the story moves impressively, and the characters are often alarmingly great, but the prose is god-awful. Of course, I’m talking about sagas now more than myths.
As I said to the last anon, who may have been you, if you want someone who takes this seriously, may or may not study it, and certainly has a bead on practicing it: check out fuckyeahnorsemythology. My relationship with Norse myths is a lot like Rune’s relationship with Richard II: I’m here for the story, the prose (when it’s in verse), and the feels.
Okay, so now it's summer?
I've somehow gone through three seasons already.
Also, I'm playing Gimme 20 Dollars and waiting for slenderman to show up.
ETA: Uh, now it's spring? I've been out here for a year you guys. Now sure how far I've traveled. Still up in the mountains. Haven't seen anyone yet.
