No Great Loss // Emma and Madison
Emma was still in a state of shock as she sat backstage with her sister Madison. The police had been in and out of the twins dressing room asking questions about 'the incident' and they didn’t seem to want to accept either Madison or herself when they both insisted that they knew nothing. “She’s told you all that she can…Can you please just let it be.” Emma stated in the bravest and calmest voice she could muster, the slightly older twin thought it was best if she tried to handle them herself because the last thing she wanted was for Madison to get angry and start cursing the pushy uniformed men out. This had all started because Madison was insulted and angered by the director to begin with, using her telekinesis to drop the heavy light fixture above the stage right on his head, they did not need a repeat of such an event when there was already so much suspicion at the moment.
"With all due respect, both my sister and I were on stage when it happened. How could either of us have caused the light fixture to fall on his head anyway. Think about how ridiculous that sounds?" Emma was getting a bit testy herself but she was really sick of the interrogation. At last the officers seemed content enough to leave them alone, telling them that someone had called their parents and they would be there to get them shortly. Just those words alone caused Emma to shiver and press a little bit closer to Madison. She was trying hard to read her sisters thoughts but sometimes the other girl could be so closed off from her, working on her mind blocking skills to keep the telepath out of her head. "Madison stop it…I know you are scared. I can feel it." Emma reached for her hand and laced their fingers together, squeezing it. No matter how good Madison had gotten at blocking her mind she couldn’t get around Emma’s gift of empathy. "I won’t let them hurt you." It was a promise she would do everything in her power to keep and Madison should know it.
The words of their drunken father yelling at them to 'cut out their witch shit' and calling them freaks kept repeating it in the teenager girl’s head and she just knew how awful this was all going to be once their parents did come for them. The director had angered Madison and she had killed him, if anyone knew it wasn’t an accident it was going to be their parents. Last time Madison had messed around with her powers in a much more innocent way their father had punished her so badly that she had stayed in bed for days with Emma at her side taking care of her. “Maybe we should just run away…we have money. We can just disappear.” The idea sounded good but she knew they wouldn’t get very far, they were seventeen years old and famous. Someone would spot them and bring them back and it would be worse.
