I’m sure ur probably sick of the lando praise in your asks but here’s another one for you lol. As someone who watched the f2 and f3 races the amount of times someone would get drs, pass only for the car they just overtook to get drs and pass them back and repeat and repeat until the flag was insane. The fact that Lando was able to keep him behind the whole time and it didn’t lead to them going back and forth the whole time was masterful and idc what anyone says AND that was with damage? Yeah I have so much faith in him he’s winning it all
trust me i'm not sick of reading lando praise!! do you even know how lovely it is to open my inbox and see celebration about the things i care so much about, instead of people being angry or mean or depressing about it all? it's beautiful and i'm thrilled about last weekend too!!! his race demonstrated the kind of competence that i've known he's had in the pocket all year and was finally able to show off. it absolutely wasn't an easy or given thing to stay ahead.
having clean air wasn't as much of an advantage as it was at other tracks, because of the power of the DRS, and how much his tires were getting damaged pushing, it was basically true equal machinery with oscar. he was able to deploy his energy well, put his car in the right position, and with like one exception was nailing apexes and getting optimal speed out of the corners, not letting oscar close up, and handling it well the times he did. some laps he was a tenth away from breaking DRS entirely.
and then after those first beautiful and tense 20 laps where it was all to play for, the next phase of the race was excellent too. he didn't let oscar's tire delta make a difference at all, and he managed the amount of traffic you get on a short lap with a fast car very well. his pace was extremely strong, despite the damage he'd picked up, and he held strong to the end. it was a tense, well-executed, clean, and deeply satisfying race!! and very much a good sign of things to come :)
