Sunghee releases debut solo mini-album The Time Is Now
Unity member Sunghee has debuted solo! The idol recently finished serving as an MC on Show! Music Core, only to return to drop a debut solo mini-albumThe Time Is Now a week later. The rapper and vocal debuted with Unity in 2016 and the group was quickly dubbed monster rookies of the industry. Sunghee has recently become a million seller as a part of the group with their latest comeback and repackage.
The Time Is Now’s six tracks begins with the melancholia grasped by “A Star Is Falling” that bleeds into the wintery break-up track “Snow Sweeping”. “What’s Wrong” sees the introduction of the mini-album’s first feature in Lucid’s Jeonghwa, who offers a verse where she shows both her vocals and rapping. The titular “The Time Is Now” comes next, followed by “Hate You”, the most aggressive track of the album, which features Knight’s Haon. The mini-album comes to a close with “Beggar”, a collaboration featuring Lipstick’s Minnie, CHARM’s Andy, and Sunghee’s groupmate Yul. Sunghee contributed at least in part lyrically to all songs on the album and is credited as the solo lyricist of “The Time Is Now”. Sunghee also helped to compose “Snow Sweeping” and to produce “The Time Is Now”, while the production of “Beggar” was handled by Sunghee alone. Jeonghwa, Haon, Minnie, and Andy all helped write the lyrics for the songs they feature on.
The music video for “Snow Sweeping”, the mini-album’s promoted single, captures the cool, desolate, and oftentimes lonely feeling of the current winter season. Lyrically, the song shows hints of hopefulness with a reminder that the season will change someday as it has before. “Snow Sweeping” will be promoted through March 1 on music shows, and b-side track “The Time Is Now” will be performed as well for the first week of music show promotions.
