Excuse Busting: We have many excuses when we do work, so we should list all possible excuses and see if we can prevent those barriers. My main excuses are hanging out with friends, watching drama, and playing games, so I translate them for a more clear reason like I do not want to study alone and find something to do besides homework. When I know the reason for having those excuses, they legitimize my procrastination behavior and notice me every time when I am going to do homework.
Time Wasters: Time wasters can be electronic devices that we are addicted to and circumstances that disturb us during work. Visiting friends, playing on the phone, and interruption are three time wasters to me. Then I figure out that spending less time on social media and hanging out with friends after finishing the homework are two methods that will help me avoid the time wasting actions.
The 10 minute technique: I have heard this learning strategy from my friend before the class, although the duration of study and rest is about 20 minutes but they are similar. I think this method is useful because we need to rest after studying for a long time, and people are willing to get rewards after doing something that is hard and tedious. I tried this method to my sociology reading, the long articles made me feel tired and bored, so I read them for 20 minutes and rested for 20 minutes which is not making me feel overwhelmed and absorbs too many things at one time.
I may use the 10 minute technique in the future because it is effective and it improves my efficiency of doing homework. Excuses busting and time wasters make me be clear about why I am always procrastinating.
