The Ride to Vote: Use Lyft to Exercise Your Rights

At Lyft, we’re working to improve lives by connecting people and their communities through the world’s best transportation. This Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 6), we want to help people across America exercise their right to vote.

Lyft has partnered with several organizations so that they can offer **free and reduced rides on Election Day**

At Lyft, we’re working to improve lives by connecting people and their communities through the world’s best transportation. This Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 6), we want to help people across America exercise their right to vote.

It is estimated that over 15 million people were registered but didn’t vote in 2016 because of transportation issues. That’s why we’re committed to providing 50% off rides across the country, and free rides to underserved communities that face significant obstacles to transportation. More details on our plan:

Across the country, we’ll give away 50% off promo codes with our partners that encourage voter turnout. We’re thrilled to be working with Vote.org, Nonprofit Vote, TurboVote and more to help distribute codes to those who need them. We’ll also have a product integration to help passengers find their polling location.

For underserved communities, we’ll provide rides free of cost through nonpartisan, nonprofit partners, including Voto Latino, local Urban League affiliates, the National Federation of the Blind, Faith in Action, League of Women Voters, and the Student Vets of America.

Ok but I just wanna put this out there

If you are living in the United States in this point in time and are 18 years old or older, for the love of god

Vote.

Most people believe that they have no say in what is going on. Yet that is EXACTLY what happened in 2016.

Your local representatives are just as important, if not MORE important than the big primaries.

Why are they more important you ask??

Well it’s quite simple. What the president does affects the country. What ur local rep does affects YOU DIRECTLY. Your local rep is in charge of state taxes, state education funding, infrastructure, businesses, antidiscrimination laws, and other public policies. These are things that can and will affect you on a day to day basis. And by voting, you can make sure to get exactly what u as an aware citizen want.

Not to mention that ALL SEATS IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND 35 SEATS IN THE SENATE WILL BE OPEN TO VOTE NEW PEOPLE INTO.

This is extremely important because the house and the senate are really who run the country. They can overturn presidential policy, they can impeach people and most of all, are in charge of most public legislation. The fact that we can shift Congress AWAY from trumps favor is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, especially for minority and LGBT+ rights.

This is especially important now as Trans rights are at extreme risk as we slowly sink back into a 50’s mentality. The fact that they are willing to completely erase trans people’s identities is disgusting and needs to be stopped. Their blatant disregard for basic human rights must be stopped. We are the difference and we need to make a difference.

SO PLEASE, November 6th.

Get out there, and VOTE.

Here's my dog reminding you to vote if you haven't already! (Don't worry, there's no sticky residue left. It's just sitting on her back :))

I finally got to turn my ballot in today y'all! Dropped it off in person because, at this rate, there's no way a mail-in would have arrived on time by election day. For some reason, it feels like a huge weight is off my shoulders, even tho it doesn't end with the presidential election.

Anyway, my dog likes to be a lapdog, so me being me decided to take a picture of her while she was napping 💖 :")

Telling people that it's okay to not vote

Is dumb. Weather or not the system is broken, the choices in this election couldn't be more important. Yes some people might not be able to vote. And that is a different story altogether. But making people feel better about not voting is just plain stupid. Yes it's a right not a requirement. But a man that could be taunted into a nuclear attack could be disastrous to the entire world. Don't be stupid today people.
