[[ Speaking of fantastic writers, have another one.
It's really difficult to talk about just what is absolutely fantastic about this Edward without talking about him in relation to all the others in his circle -- people like thethingofyournightmares, and thatwhichyoucancallarose -- because they have constructed such a beautiful story that just breaks my heart every time I even dare to sit down and read those fantastic long posts they write back and forth, not to mention the drabbles, oh god the drabbles.
They are all fantastic people, and yet, ex--fullmetal is the only one I have actually rped with so far. And, of course, I'm doing a terrible job at it, oops. Ex--fullmetal is one of the few people whom I actually think is actually objectively better than I am at writing, and their posts are long and beautiful and I just can't handle it -- which is part of the reason it's taken me so long to reply to our rp, and to start plotting more. It's also very difficult, as a result, for me to critique them.
More than the quality and the quantity of their writing, though, there's the sheer amount of magic that goes on in their head. I have no doubt in my mind that they have plotted and planned and obsessed over every tiny piece of their character, and they've done it so well. It's amazing to see a character that is taking on such a life of its own, and yet staying so true to the source material. They've made a truly amazing, believable, realistic story, it is gripping in every possible way.
As a mun, they seem to be really great, too. I admit to not really knowing much about their personality, but they seem really nice, from what I see in tag conversations, reblogs, asks, etc. I've tried to talk to them a few times but our conversations seem to just kinda awkwardly die, and I'm not sure whether it's because I say weird things sometimes, or if tumblr just freaks out and it's not anybody's fault.
I really like them, though, and wish I were brave enough to talk to them more, but I get really scared because I know my OC is, in comparison to, oh, just about everything ex--fullmetal writes, very poorly constructed, in terms of backstory. I want to relate with them about Alex's past and their notagoldenboy character's past, since there's so many commonalities, but aslkdjf they did everything so much better and i just--
