Exhibition layout 2 - final
This is my second attempt of laying out my exhibition and the layout I will go ahead with. This exhibition will feature white walls and will include the images being hung in black simple frames like the previous layout. Despite this, the lighting within the exhibition is going to be really original. I have decided to have really dark lighting however for each individual image have a smaller lamp which will project onto each image. I feel this will work well as each individual image will be emphasised by the lighting. Adding to that, I feel this would create a really interesting aesthetic and underline the power within the images.
In relation to the layout of the images, I have decided to group the images together regarding the context. I feel this is a clever approach to organising my exhibition as it creates a storyline within the groups of images. I too really think that separating the images into groups is beneficial as it leaves wall space for the artists accompanying words.
Finally, I decided to put one specific image in the middle of the exhibition, which will be hung in a frame on a pillar in the middle of the room. This is because I feel this image does not relate to any of the others. In addition, I feel this particular image works well being in the centre of the room. This is because the image features multiple women, and in the other images the focus is on the one person. I personally feel the fact the image contains multiple women sums up the exhibition, in the sense that in order to progress the movement of feminism, women need to work together. Despite this, the image does feature multiple women looking fairly deadpan. This could too portray the insecurity of women as a whole, and the fact that all women in society experience insecurity and fear on a day to day basis. Overall, I feel featuring this image in the centre of the room allows the audience to analyse the image and question themselves as to why the image is so significant.
Overall this is the layout I will be using in order to create my ‘fictional identity’ exhibition.
