Disclaimer: since I won't be having a summer vacation, I'll still have work to do for college, so I'm not 100% sure if I'll have time. Also, this prb won't be my best writing, since I haven't written something in over a year...this is just something to get back in the game hahaha

Red Velvet. They were the first girl gang in town, and they were known for saving women out of nasty situations. The five girls started out as escorts, who you won't consider important people. Unlike most escorts, they got out and formed a gang. They started saving women from the streets, causing more girls to form gangs. Still, they kept most control and other girl gangs would inform them if something threatened their position.
Irene, Wendy, Seulgi, Joy & Yeri. These were the names of the members, who saved women on a daily basis.
It all started 5 years ago...
Irene's P.O.V.
This was one of those dreadful nights. I was sitting on the lap of an old guy, who smelled like cigars. He ignores me while he talks business with some other guys, one of them is Suho. He's the leader of a growing gang in this city, namely EXO. They were running this shit show and I was just another pawn in their game. The guy who had me in his lap was an important business partner of EXO. His son, Kiyoung, was a regular of the club. Recently EXO introduced a new concept in The Black Pearl, called Lotto. It's a kind of lottery with the price, one night with one of us. The guy squeezed my hip a bit and I saw Suho's expression change. ''Irene, leave us. We have some important matters we need to discuss, without an escort eavesdropping on us.'' He said with a straight face, before taking a sip from his whiskey. I left the old man without a second thought and continued roaming the room, hoping to make some money off another guy.
Wendy's P.O.V.
His lips once again brushed against my neck, before I snapped back to reality, ''Chanyeol, we gotta stop doing this.'' I said and pushed against his chest. ''But you enjoy it, don't you?'' he smirked and for once second, I forgot about what was at stake, my life. 'I love you too, Yeollie, but you know this won't end well for me. When they find out about us --- and they will ---, they'll have me killed. Just like when they found out about Jeongyeon and Kris. Suho will think I know too much and kill me without a second thought.'' I sighed and looked down. Chanyeol put a finger under my chin and made me look at him, ''You know I won't let that happen, I love you.'' he said, desperately wanting me to stay with him. ''I know you think that, but in the end, EXO is your family and they'll always come first. Besides that, I'm just a nobody to them, so they won't even care.'' I said, getting fed up and pushing him away.
''Good night, Chanyeol. Please contact me, when you've made your mind up about us.'' I walked away from him without looking behind me, ''Wendy, wait!'' he said, running after me. He grabbed me by my arm and turned me around, ''You know damn well what I want. I want you, and I don't fucking care about their opinions. I love you and no one will come in between us. I know EXO is my family, but they'll just have to accept that I see you as more than a one-nightstand.'' He placed his hand softly on my cheek and placed his lips against my lips.
''I've actually had this idea for some time now,'' he began, and I looked at him, waiting for him to continue. ''How would you feel about getting out of this business and joining EXO? I mean you would do Suho a favor since you're always fighting the customers'' he chuckled. I gaped at him, not knowing what to say. Joining an only-guys gang didn't seem ideal for me as a woman. ''I don't know, Yeollie, I mean I would leave all the girls behind me. I wouldn't want to betray them or leave them behind.'' I said, hoping that he would say they could tag along. ''I know you grew accustomed to these girls, but in the end, they would drop you as well if they got a chance like this.'' I looked at him shocked. I couldn't believe that he would actually say something like that. ''How dare you, say something like that? These girls always had my back, since the beginning. They're MY family.'' I said angrily, for he offended me and my girls. ''I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that I know you girls care about each other a lot,'' he said and turned away from me. ''but just think about my offer, please. I'll drive by with Chen tonight. It would mean the world for me if you left with us.'' he said and walked away, leaving me with my own thoughts.
Later that night...
I entered our room, with my head in the clouds. Chanyeol was picking me up tonight. I would finally leave this life. I'll miss the girls thought, so I'm still not totally sure if I'll take him up on his offer. Sure, living with him would be a dream for me, and I won't have to take shit from perverts anymore. Still, leaving the girls behind doesn't sit right with me. ''What happened to you, something with Chanyeol?'' Lisa asked me, while she was brushing Jennie's hair. I hummed before falling on my bed, sighing dreamily. I rolled onto my stomach and rested my head in my hands. ''He's such a gentleman. Total boyfriend material.'' I said, thinking about all of his handsome futures. ''Besides that, he's in a gang.'' Lisa joked. ''I don't have a dream job either.'' I sighed and rolled back on my back. I could get out of this job today if I just left all of this behind. ''I better get some sleep; we're meeting again after work tomorrow. He has planned a romantic night.'' I lied, knowing damn well I would be leaving tonight. Yes, I had made my mind up. I love the girls, but this time I had to choose for my future. And I couldn't think about a future without Chanyeol in it. Lisa whistled, thinking I would get some on a date. I turned around sadly, for I would leave them all behind.
When we were all asleep, we heard a ticking noise against the window, before something broke the window. Jennie screamed before Tiffany told her to shut up since Ji Won would punish us for making too much noise. Tiffany and Taeyeon headed to the broken window. ''Sorry.'' I heard someone whisper, and I knew that Chanyeol and Chen had arrived. Lisa walked toward the window as well, ''Mina and Wendy, Chen and Chanyeol are here!'' she said excitedly. Mina and Chen were a couple as well. We were the only ones who knew about it, for it could mean death. We both headed to the window, ''Hey baby.'' Chanyeol greeted me. ''Hey love.'' Chen greeted his girlfriend. We both got rosy cheeks and the girls laughed quietly. ''We're here to pick you up, Wendy, as we had agreed.'' my boyfriend said, and the girls began to question me confused.
''Wait you're leaving us?'' ''Why didn't you tell us about this?'' ''Couldn't you trust us?''
That last one hurt the most, ''Yeah, I know, but this is a chance I need to take. I didn't know about this either until today. I was still contemplating it actually, but I have to do this. I want to start a future with him, I love him.'' I teared up. ''We understand, honey, but you should've let us know.'' Tiffany said and gave me a hug. ''I know, I'm sorry.'' I looked down embarrassed. ''Don't be. If you think this is right, you have to go for it. We'll be fine, and if you'll be working for EXO, we'll probably see you at The Black Pearl.'' Taeyeon said. ''Now go pack your bags, before they change their minds!'' Momo said, excited for me. I quickly packed my bags and quietly left the building.
''Don't worry, love. I'll come back for you'' I heard Chen say to Mina, who was staring sadly out of the window.
He never went back for her...
5 years later...
We came back to our headquarters, after another successful mission. ''My back is killing me; I'll be in the shower if anyone is looking for me.'' Seulgi said and walked away. Irene and I went to our office, where we checked for more cases. ''Please tell me, you're giving us the night off.'' Yeri whined for she was tired as well. ''Men won't give women some time off from assault, so why would we give them some time off?'' Irene said strictly and Yeri kept quiet, knowing Irene wasn't to be messed with. Our leader was a calm but terrifying woman if you got in her way.
''Yeri, why don't you sharpen our weapons with Sooyoung, we'll check for more cases.'' Yeri sighed a little annoyed but left anyway to find the other member. ''Little brat has to know her place, having an attitude like that.'' Irene said while she was looking through some files. ''Irene, is something bothering you?'' I asked confused. ''Just another man annoying me, nothing new. Don't worry about it.'' she said, hoping that I would move on. ''Na-ah, who is bothering our poker face queen?'' I joked and she smiled slightly. ''It's someone from EXO- '' she began, ''So it's Suho.'' I interrupted her smiling, right before I sat down on the big wooden desk. ''Yeah, it's Suho. When I worked at The Black Pearl, he always acted weird around me. Recently we had a meeting with them, and he acted weird and cold once again. They were bragging about Suho's one-nightstands, which he never does. I just don't get it- '' she started to rant, ''Wait, you really like Suho, huh?'' I smiled. ''I don't know. I damn well know I don't need a man, but if I would spend my life with one, I might as well make a good choice.'' She said, making me laugh. Irene, the woman who fights men on a daily basis, is gushing about one. ''You know, it doesn't matter. It's not important. Why don't you check up on the basement? Check if everything is still in order. I left her with her own thoughts and headed for the basement.
I heard faint screams, coming down from the basement. I went down the spiral stairs which led me to our basement, which we used as a dungeon. As I got downstairs, the screams became louder, for we used this dungeon for all the women we trapped.

Summary: You learn the hard way that your new neighbor isn’t as kind and sweet as he seems.
“Good morning, Yixing!” You greet, smiling at your neighbor as the two of you leave at the same time. Yixing has moved in only recently, and it was quite a surprise when you constantly saw him leave at the same time as you did for work.
But because of that, the two of you were quick to be friends. He’s always kind and friendly, quite a soft-spoken person so you liked him instantly.
He smiles. “Morning!”
“Off to work?” You ask him, which he nods as you watch him get on his motorcycle, parked in front of the apartment. Apparently he’s some sort of sales person...you didn’t ask for details.
“Yeah,” he smiles, revving the vehicle. “Lots of customers to please!”
How true is that. You wave him goodbye as you head the opposite direction for the bus stop, laughing. “Have fun!”
Your days working behind a desk in an office are long and boring. You can hear the clock tick, loud in the silence, the only thing that seems to remind you that time is, in fact, moving. 12:30 and it’s off to lunch. 7:00 and it’s time to go home.
Exhausted, you try not to fall asleep on the bus ride home. You’d hate to miss your stop and have to wait for the next bus back. You’re also famished—do you have anything at home to eat?
You groan at the thought, sighing. You think there might be leftover spaghetti in your fridge...but did you eat that yesterday? Or is it still there? Do you have anything else?
In your half-dazed state, you see something through the window.
Yixing?
You blink, pressing up against the window as the bus zooms by. The next stop is the stop you get off, and you practically run off, back towards the spot you think you saw Yixing.
Something feels wrong.
You hear voices down the street, coming from an alleyway a little ways from your apartment. There are still people out on the street, so you’re not immensely worried. It’s still quite early.
You peak in, indeed seeing Yixing.
He seems to be arguing with someone, and you’ve never seen him angry before...or heard him raise his voice. The man he’s with is slightly shorter, but standing tall like he has authority over Yixing.
You catch snippets as their voices travel.
“So what are you going to do with her, huh?” Yixing hisses, shaking his head. “We can’t keep her locked up forever! What was Kyungsoo thinking?”
“Like I said,” the other man says, frustrated, “He was seen. He had no choice.”
“What do you mean ‘no choice?’” Yixing says. “Bribe her! Or better yet, kill her! You should know how troublesome kidnapping is!”
You cover your mouth to keep in your gasp. You never thought you would hear such things come from the sweet, kind Yixing’s mouth. Kill? Kidnap?
“Look,” the other man says, voice lowering and dripping with authority. “Let’s just get this one job done and we’re out of here, alright?”
“Of course.” Yixing seethes out. “Can’t wait.”
You can tell their conversation is over. You hurry away, heading back towards your apartment and praying he doesn’t catch you eavesdropping.
This is very bad.
The next morning, you don’t know how to greet Yixing. You’re scared to, actually. How can you not be, when you realized you live next to a potential murderer or kidnapper?
Still, you force out a smile and try to keep your tone light, like usual. “Morning, Yixing!”
He smiles at you, the gesture bring chills down your spine now. “Morning.”
You feel your heart hammer in your chest as you go down the elevator with him. You feel paranoid, every little gesture he does makes you jump and flinch. He looks at you oddly, and you smile again.
“You okay?”
“Yeah,” you lie, feigning a laugh. “Watched a horror movie last night. Still not over it.”
He laughs back, nodding. “Ah, I see. I’m not too scared of movies like that. Next time you could come over and watch it together.”
“Sure.” You gulp, feeling your mouth go dry.
Of course you’re not scared! You’re literally a criminal!
You take a deep breath as the elevator door opens. “Well, see you later!”
“See you.” He waves, getting on his motorcycle.
You hear the doorbell ring that night. You feel your heart stop, peaking through the peephole and feeling your veins fill with dread.
Yixing.
Oh no.
You open the door halfway, trying to look relaxed. “Hey! What’s up?”
“Hey,” he greets, politely. “I wanted to ask if you were still up to watching horror movies?”
You feel your blood freeze. “Oh, uh, I’m a little tired today. Maybe next time?”
He cocks his head, his eyes watching you carefully. “You sure? You’ve been acting weird all morning...and you’re still acting weird.”
“I’m fine.” You try to close the door on him, but he sticks his foot in, pushing past your door. You step back, feeling vulnerable under his gaze.
Something about the look in his eyes are different.
You begin to tremble. “W-What are you doing? I’m just not feeling well, Yixing.”
"I’m worried about you.” He says, though his tone sounds nothing worried. “Do you have a fever? Should I take you to the hospital?”
“No.” You shake your head, still stepping back as he steps forward. “I’m fine. I just need some rest. If you would please just—”
“I have some cold medicine.” He says. “I brought it in case. I kinda of knew you were acting up.”
You stay silent, watching him carefully.
He smiles. “If you take the medicine, I’ll leave immediately, okay?” His tone is surprisingly tender, and it makes you second-guess yourself.
You sigh. “You’ll leave right after?”
“Of course.”
You nod, sitting down on your couch. You feel your skin prickle, feeling so incredibly anxious like you just willingly let in a murderer. Which you probably did.
He goes to the kitchen, coming back out with a spoon and a small bottle you’ve never seen before. It doesn’t have a brand, just a plastic bottle with a pretty pink colored liquid inside.
“Just a spoonful will do.” He says, pouring the liquid out carefully onto the spoon. “Say ‘ah!’”
You hesitate, your mind running wild but you can’t back out of this now. It would be better to do as he says, since you don’t know what he’ll—or can—do.
You gulp down the spoonful, and it tastes surprisingly sweet, slightly tangy. It’s a taste that gently resembles alcohol...
“Whoa.” You mumble, feeling your head begin to spin. “T-The medicine’s p-pretty strong.”
“Yeah.” He answers, though his voice sounds faraway. “Just sleep it off.”
Your eyes slide closed involuntarily, and you are met with darkness.
You wake up feeling weird. Like you crave something, though you can’t exactly pinpoint what it is.
You groan as you get out of bed...not remembering having gotten in. The memories come flooding back, and you realize Yixing must’ve helped you into bed. Well, at least you’re alive and well.
As you go through your morning routine, the craving gets worse. You begin to feel annoyed, grumpy because you don’t even know what it is you crave...you just feel the emptiness gnaw away at you like a starving beast.
Like you’re addicted to something but you don’t know what.
The doorbell rings, and without much thought, you open the door. Yixing is there with his bright smile and fresh clothes. “Morning! Do you feel better?”
“I—uh,” you look at him, and it’s as if a switch had flipped inside of you.
The craving inside you grows worse like hunger, insatiable hunger and you lunge at him. “Yixing! Yixing, I need you.”
“Oh?” He cocks his head at you, though not looking the slightest bit surprised. He comes in, closing the door shut but you don’t care. You feel the emptiness grow triple its size, the hunger painful.
“Please Yixing.” You beg, throwing yourself all over him because you need to feel him. You want him so badly it hurts. You love him, god you love him so much this feeling is euphoric and you need him need him need him—
He kisses you, the feeling like an explosion in your mind, a dam breaking because those intense feelings are overwhelming, overflowing and you can’t stop it. You don’t know what to do, as you cling onto him more, more, more—
He chuckles. “So it works.”
He pushes you away, ignoring your pleas and whines for him to hold you, kiss you, anything. You feel weak, limp, as if you can’t function if he’s not touching you. He calls someone, refusing your approaches no matter what you do.
“Junmyeon? Yeah, it’s me.” He says. “The Love Shot works like a charm. It’s time to get out of here.”
He puts his phone away, grinning down at you. If you weren’t so dazed and desperate, you could tell his eyes are filled with mirth, as if you look like a dying animal in his eyes.
He pulls you towards him, his voice washing over you so, so pleasantly, like honey and chocolate. “Sorry. I couldn’t let you get off the hook after you heard.”
“Y-Yixing,” you sob desperately, clawing at him, wanting to crawl inside of his skin so you’ll never have to part. “I need you. I love you so much.”
“Yeah.” He whispers, “So you’ll sacrifice yourself for me, right?”
Yixing puts on his helment, revving up the engine. His job here is done, and his brothers have also moved to their new location.
He looks over the horizon, memorizing the skyline of this city. It really is quite pretty...but what’s a pretty city if there isn’t a little crime?
His motorcycle kicks up dirt as he zooms off towards a new, promising horizon. It’ll surely be interesting.
“Well then.” He smiles to himself, speeding up. “Off to the next place.”

A/N: Somehow this got a little darker than I intended...With everything going on, I wasn’t really feeling like writing, but I’m glad I got this series done. It was fun and pretty twisted. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

You did it so well for six years. You’ve hid your son from the biggest threat of his life. But one mishap led to the biggest secret in your life being face to face with the man you’ve kept him away from all these years - his father.
Mafia!AU, Angst.
This goes a bit way way back, enjoy the back story. :)
The ache that grew on your overworked feet didn’t even stop you from scurrying down the building and get yourself a cab. Not even bothering to free yourself out of the restraining work clothes. You’re not even sure if Junmyeon still lives in his old penthouse unit in the busy center of Seoul. The address itself was vague in your memory, the streets surely did change a lot for recognition for the past seven years. The city was noisier than ever, full of blinding lights and buzzing people of various appearances. There are more skyscrapers that filled the skyline, and the luxurious condominium you knew very well towered over the others. You could only look at its uppermost floor amongst all the glimmering lights of the city, hoping that in there is your son.
It wasn’t that you’re thinking that Junmyeon would ever hurt Jaejin. There’s this knowledge deep in your heart, past all the anxiousness that his apparent secret life brings you, that Junmyeon is still this gentle and well meaning man that you used to love. And the fact that he now knows that Jaejin is of his own blood just assures you that he is safe. This fear in your mind is this possibility of not seeing him again. That he’ll see this opulent and lavish life as better than he experiences with you. To grow up in a life like his father’s - to have servants at your beck and call, all that you wish will be laid down on your hands with a snap of a finger. Or that maybe Junmyeon will have all this pent up anger and desire to retaliate hiding your son from you. And with all his power and wealth, you know that if wishes to keep Jaejin from you, he’ll do it very well.
But there’s this hope in your heart that Junmyeon is the same loving guy you met over a decade ago.
The scent of both sweaty bodies and alcohol flooded your senses, both of which you weren’t accustomed to. Your friends, Haein and Ara who took the same major with you, convinced you that joining a sorority is a must and vital to Legal Management students. As these “sisters” would eventually help you once you reach law school. So now here you are, clad in a white dress that flowed just above your knee with a white feathery headband on your head guised as a halo. Apparently, the theme was something Angels and Demons. With your refusal to wear any skimpy and tight red or black bodycon dress, the exact thing Ara and Haein went for, you just sticked with the Angel part of the theme.
You three are at your 2nd year of college. And after the gruelling rules of the recruitment the last semester, all neophytes are excited to be rewarded with this soro-frat mixer - and you’ll lose the term reward very loosely. Mixers like these seems to be intended to find the members’ next college boy toy or some random exciting hookup for the night. Both things you aren’t exactly into.
You wouldn’t exactly call yourself a prude, but you’re not really outgoing either. Growing up in a conservative and traditional family, you grew up preferring reading books and staying in over the common high schooler choice of partying outside. A trait that wouldn’t get you very far in college.
To add to your discomfort, the party rules would keep you out of Haein and Ara’s company the whole night. It was a shackles mixer, where you’d practically be chained to a fraternity member the whole night and forced to get to know them. So you sat at the sorority house kitchen, far from the booming lawn and pool area without any idea who your designated partner would be.
“Is your ticket number 63?” A rather good looking, lean man towered over you as he suddenly asked.
You looked at the red ticket you’ve drawn earlier that read the exact number as he asked. “Yeah?”
The lean man tugged a somehow smaller man, one you could say that also was as dashing as the previous one. “Here she is man, told you you’re in for a treat. Bye, hyung!” The taller man with dimples you could swim in walked away laughing, leaving you and the smaller man alone.
“So, 63?” He asked with a smile, his small iridescent teeth and puffy cheeks making a notable appearance. You shyly nodded, noting that he also took the Angel part of the theme and he’s sporting a white short sleeved button down and white shorts.
“We uhm.. Kinda have to use this?” He raised his left hand that held cuffs, an act which you just chuckled to and agreed. He fixed the cuffs on your wrists and sat beside you on the kitchen counter.
“I’m Junmyeon, by the way. You?” You smiled at his pleasantries, his manner of speaking really spoke of class and formality. Not that you’re surprised as the college you’ve been in was almost considered to be for the elite and the wealthy. So you tried and respond with the same manner.
A silence filled with awkwardness filled the air between you and Junmyeon as everyone else unleashed their wild side around. The restroom was just adjacent to the kitchen and you just pretended that you don’t hear the filth going on inside.
“Oh dear that was strong.” You scrunch your face on the strong burning taste of alcohol on the punch you just drank. The unassuming fruity color packed a whole lot of kick down your throat.
“This? It’s not that strong.” Junmyeon responded beside you, gulping down his own glass serving of the punch.
“I’m not that good of a drinker.”
“Yeah, I noticed that you’re not much of a party goer.” He chuckled lightly, and the way his eyes disappear as it gets pushed by his cheeks was just a wonderful sight.
“I only got forced to go by my friends. They said it’s like a quintessential part of college, so here I am.” And then you remembered Haein and Ara, two of which you haven’t seen in the past hour. You turned your head around, looking for any signs of them.
“If your friends are the ones paired with Kris and Luhan, you won’t probably see them anywhere here right now.” Junmyeon downed another glass, lifting your cuffed hand along. You looked at him, baffled by the vagueness of what he said. “They’re probably upstairs, or maybe or maybe not here at all. You know, devils doing some devil things.”
“Oh.. yeah. I forgot that things happen very fast here.” You answered, sipping your straw for another sting just to hide your embarrassment. It’s been more than half an hour and you’ve just sat on a kitchen counter with Junmyeon, you thought that you’re probably boring him out. “I’m sorry that tonight may be pretty slow for you.”
“What?” His hands gripped the edges of the marble countertop, face turned to the side to look at you. “No, it’s not a problem. Don’t be sorry. I’m not interested in that.”
You weren’t able to help your face turn into a frown, to be blatantly rejected even before you took consideration of liking the man beside you. Sure, his wonderful appearance makes you flustered and shy, and you were more than interested to get to know him more.
“No, ugh. I didn’t mean that I wasn’t interested with you. I mean… hookups aren’t my thing. Slow is more kinda how I like it.” He said joyously before ending it with a wink which made your cheeks glow a bright shade of pink.
Unlike common romantic novels or narratives of college love, you didn’t hit it off with Junmyeon quickly afterwards. After the night of the mixer, which ended abruptly after some fratboys hitting the power supply with their illegal firecrackers, you seldomly saw Junmyeon. You found out that he was already a Junior, and he and his friends were a couple of frat members with great connections so they were able to sneak in at the party.
He wasn’t in the campus very often either. Rumor had it that he’s from a very rich family that runs a shipping conglomerate and that he takes units overseas. The very few instances that you ran into each other was only marked with a smile or politely calling each other’s names. Ara and Haein, who had bigger social circles than you, shared things that they learned about Junmyeon. Apparently, he majored in Business Management and was the only heir to their multi million business. And that he’s often considered too busy to date despite the few random flings he had just to keep himself a healthy young man.
It took another term before you got to connect with each other on social media, and you’d use the term connect very scarcely as he posts so little. Only a few posts about his recent trip to Paris, or the time he toured Italy.
College sinked in your skin too fast. You’ve dated around, you considered it to be an act of dipping your feet in the vast oceans. You had to be out of your comfort zone and you’re afraid of all the things you’ll regret trying.
It wasn’t even until your Junior year that you properly got to converse properly again with Junmyeon. You volunteered for an outreach in this student organization that required a lot of help to pack goods for the victims of a recent devastating storm. The long test week was over and you had a lot of free time, so you went and signed yourself up.
It’s still vivid in your memory how you only opted to wear a loose pullover and shorts. Not even bothering how you looked as comfort mattered most in working long hours of boxing food. You sat in the basketball gymnasium filled with busied people and stacks of instant ramen and canned goods. You sat down in front of a small box and started filling it with all the necessities, neatly stacking three cans of sardines and six packs of ramen inside with a bag of two kilos of rice. Silently, you finished box after box when you were suddenly interrupted by someone who sat beside you.
“Hey angel.”
“My name’s not ang-” You said as you turned your head to the perpetrator. Stopped immediately by the warm chocolate brown eyes that had contact with yours. “Oh, Junmyeon. Long time no see.”
“Yeah, senior year is really that busy.” He laughed as he sat down beside you and started packing his own boxes too.
“Why are you here then? Ah, you probably heard that I’ll be here so you went and signed up too eh?” You said in a teasing manner.
“Woah, where’s the slow and shy girl that I knew back at the mixer? College sure did change you.” Junmyeon said, which made the two of you laugh. “No, actually my father is one of the sponsors so, you know. It would just make sense for me to be here.”
“Okay, whatever Mr. Rich guy. Let’s just pack here so we can finish earlier, I have a lot of essays to write.”
The long hours flew by easily as you chatted with Junmyeon. It seemed like putting canned goods into boxes just went automatic on your hands as you lost yourself on the galaxy of his thoughts. He told you stories how he was mistaken as a celebrity in Italy, and the day he almost tripped off an ancient sculpture at Rome. Junmyeon had inserted a lot of jokes along the way, ones that you don’t think you’d laugh at if not for the budding interest you had for him. In return for his enthusiasm in sharing his stories, you told the narrative of you running into your roommates getting it on. Not understanding what it meant to have a sock on the door. And you sure do hope that the survivors of the recent floods would feel the extra love and happiness that filled along the boxes that you packed.
You thought that day would be very much like the mixer, nothing but an episode of sweet nothings. A wisp of memory that you’d look by after a few months or years and wonder why all he was is a fleeting fancy. No, this one was different for he asked your phone number after packing almost a hundred boxes. It was different because he called you that very night, asking if he could interest you to go out for dinner. It was different because Junmyeon was far different from all the flings you’ve encountered before him.
Junmyeon wasn’t the kind to be nervous for a date because it seemed as if he had everything planned down to the last detail. A fine silk void of creases and he left no room for mistakes. He picked you up at your dorm on the dot. He cleaned up very well with his exquisite dress shirt, obviously branded - probably even haute couture. He rolled up with his Benz, looking all shiny and polished. Junmyeon exuded so much calmness during the ride that you felt as if all the nerves were passed down to you. A perfect fit for a modern day prince, and you weren’t sure if you’re up to the task to be his modern day princess.
You should’ve expected the dinner to be far from normal, as he was far from an average person either. But not even in your hindsight did you expect for a rented vintage restaurant that mimicked Greek ruins, rose petals set the mood and candlelights illuminated the place. The grandiose of everything made you feel very little.
“I reckon that I’m way too overdressed for the occasion.” You noted with a light chuckle, trying to mask the pent up nervousness deep within you. The black vintage dress that you kept in your closet for very special events suddenly felt lacking.
“No, you look perfect. Everything else is just over the top, fault on my part.” And there was his endearing smile. “I just thought this was fitting for the daughter of a former politician.”
Your jaw dropped in shock, “How did you know?” It wasn’t very much of a secret but you tried and keep this fact on the down low.
“It wasn’t that hard to find out.”
Time seems to speed up whenever you’re with Junmyeon. You tried to cherish and savor each passing moment, you wish it were trinkets that you could pocket and save in a jar. The dinner was followed by subsequent ones, each more relaxed than before. The luxurious restaurant was traded for a movie night in his penthouse, still far from the ordinary but let’s be honest - is there even anything ordinary when it comes to someone as impeccable as Junmyeon?
The relationship itself, being committed to each other and official only came as a realization. It wasn’t marked by a wonderful proposal nor a question but rather an agreement. As if you just both come into terms that you’re comfortable with each other’s feelings enough to present the other as their partner.
It felt like Junmyeon has been a vital part of your life, his constant presence was almost a necessity. It wasn’t a toxic relationship but a rather very serene one, his friends almost consider you married. It wasn’t even far from thought, he asked for you to work in their company to be around you more often. An offer you couldn’t refuse for sure - you have your boyfriend beside you and a high paying job was a combination to die for.
Yet taking the job meant a compromise in your side. It was never part of your plans to work and settle down right after college, it was never in your sight. Harvard was the plan, you and your parents have known this ever since you were twelve. Take up Legal Management in one of the most prestigious universities in the campus, and then fly to the States to study in the most premier Law School one would consider. But that was far off from Junmyeon’s mind.
He wanted you to stay, here with him, be with him. He always would reason out that he’ll be able to provide what you need and more, to which you had no doubt. The Kim family probably had enough money to support up to five more generations, even with a lavish life. But to be a lawyer, a good and reputable one, has always been your dream.
But Junmyeon was your serendipity - a wonderful sudden discovery that made all else a blur. A sudden diamond on the way that made the hike for the pot of gold futile. So with him you stayed. As you couldn’t bear to break his heart and his own dreams, one that consisted of settling down with you he said. The thing about Junmyeon is he’s too idealistic and a hopeless romantic on the inside. He was very vocal on what he wanted on your wedding, about your children and how many. All of these fragile little gems that he cherished so much were on your hands, and you loved him so much at that time to crush it.
It was all smooth and tranquil until he started getting busier at work. It wasn’t even work that you understood as he kept on saying it was his father’s favor, who in turn started to grow weaker in health. He’s been flying from one country to another and back, sometimes even for weeks. What he was very busy about was kept unrecorded in the company. And you’ve started to question.
All it needed was an unassuming folder that lied on his work table for you to find out. Junmyeon was knocked out on the bed, too tired and wasted from proving how much he missed you due to his recent long trip. Curiosity got the best of you and you decided to put silence in all the questions that kept you awake at night.
But you would have rathered not look on the contents now that you read it.
Far from your anticipation of recent transactions of a new ship, probably an acquisition of new plane models to fasten shipping - it was the worst case scenario that you didn’t even knew was possible for a man like Junmyeon. To be fair, it was still shipping transcripts. But the contents were of the horrendous kinds, far from what you handled in his company that included family packages, beauty products or overall goods. These “products” were made for the worst members of human society, illegal weapons - those who could erase an entire locality with a press of a button. Guns of all sorts, those handheld and ones you thought was only issued for military use. Cocaine, LSD, methamphetamine, compounds that wouldn't have made much of a big deal in college but it sure does when it’s shipped in hundreds and thousands of kilograms.
And it was all undersigned by a certain SUHO.
Your mind quickly connected the dots. Whoever Junmyeon was doing this work for wasn’t necessarily the makers nor producers of the said equipment, they were simply shipping them. Making the impossible dirty work more than possible. And the shipping behemoth that the Kim’s family had was a sure fit for the job.
It all made sense. These certain container vans that were over the initial count that Junmyeon blatantly told you to disregard, saying that you were the one that made the wrong tally and count. The sudden emergency shippings that had to be made at midnight.
And you don’t know how to react.
This life was far from what you dreamt of, the righteous and abiding. Actually, this was the exact opposite of such. The defectors, rebellious, and one treacherous to mankind and life itself. You loved Junmyeon, but you definitely cannot accept this aspect of his life.
But you chose to not say a thing.
You were smarter than that, far more logical that just blurting out that you spied on his belongings while he was fast asleep after making you orgasm one after another. You knew that this would only lead to complications, probably even lose your life or your sanity if he knows that you’re aware.
So you planned your escape.
A handful of acceptable reasons was already jotted on your list. That he was too busy for you, that you wanted to go and pursue your dreams in Harvard, that you’ve been wanting to try something new in your life that doesn’t revolve around him because your life was with him and for him for the past two years. Even you tried so hard to make yourself believe that this was the reason that you’re leaving him. That it wasn’t because he’s living a dangerous and a life so wronged that you didn’t have it in your guts to be part of it.
That you wouldn’t ever want the growing life in your belly to take part of. No, the life that you’d give birth to wouldn’t only be another spawn to continue such a vicious act.
It took all your might and tears to leave. To watch him break down, and cry, and beg, and kneel in front of you only for you to turn your back on him on the very end. All his pleads and promises to spend more time and stay with you was all but a shout into the void as you still hopped on a plane fast to California to leave everything behind.
To break your own heart to stick to your morals, and to care for your coming bundle of joy.
And you wouldn’t let that all go to waste now, not now that you’ve worked so hard to be the best mother to Jaejin for the past 6 years. Not now that you beared everything alone, to depend on yourself starting at the age of 22 while raising another in your arms.
You arrive at the luxurious condominium, almost limping on the pain at the balls of your feet. You quickly dashed to the information desks and painlessly smiled at the attendants that looked so pleasant and formal towards you.
“Can I have a dial to room 52A, please.” You said as you plastered a forced smile on your face. Yet a sense of hurry was in your heart.
“I’m sorry, Ma’am. I’m not sure if you had the right room information, perhaps you’re trying to reach another unit please?” The attendant with caramel blonde hair and blue scarf responded to you with her pearly whites all displayed as a part of her job.
“No, It’s really for room 52A for Mr. Kim Junmyeon.” You reiterated yourself.
“Hold on for a second as I contact Mr. Kim if he’s expecting any visitors right now.” She politely responded once more as she grabbed the phone and talked in a shushed manner. “We’ve been informed that Mr. Kim is not in his room as of the moment, Ma’am.”
“Are you sure? I just.. I just really need to talk to him right now.” You tried to keep your composure.
“I’m pretty sure that Mr. Kim hasn’t been around the vicinity for the past few weeks. He’s probably residing in some of his other properties. Good day Ma’am.” She greeted you again with a smile before she entertained other guests.
Of course, Junmyeon would never be dumb. He’s too calculating of a person to sit with Jaejin here if he’ll hide your son from you. You lived here with him for a year, of course you’ll go here first. You scanned your memories for where else could he be, he probably had a thousand more houses or condominiums now but you’re left with no choice to stick with what you know.
So with hope in your hands, you headed off his old family home on the outskirts of the city.
The drive almost lasted half an hour, the village was meant only for the wealthiest of the wealthy. Just below the wondrous sight of the mountains yet still bearably close enough to the city center where their businesses would be. You remember it here, the lavish and aristocratic house that his parents owned. The one with marbled walls and doric columns and topped off with an exquisite fountain on the dead center. If they weren’t here, you might as well count the number of stars in the sky and sands on the beach as that’s how hard it would take to find them.
Guards clad in black scanned you, they phoned inside to ask if a visitor was expected. If they were this intricate on searching you, Junmyeon was probably inside. And Jaejin would hopefully be, too.
Surprisingly to you, the condescending gates were opened and you were let inside the Kim Estate. Guards ushered you inside, not bothering to speak as small talk wasn’t the reason you rushed here for. You just wanted to see your son, happy, and alive, to alleviate all the worries in your mind.
The living area was nothing short of exquisite, large antiquette sofa sets lined with white leather ornate the room. The grand staircase almost looked like something off fantasy movies. The whole mansion just reeked of immense power and wealth just like what Junmyeon exudes. All this glitter and glamour and all you’re searching for was the jolly laughter and toothless smile of your son.
“Mama!” You hurriedly looked on your left, where Jaejin emerged from the kitchen wearing a smile. With open arms, you almost ran into his embrace. The thud of your heart was almost as loud and booming of that of a thunderstorm. Almost squishing your son at the tightness of your embrace. “Uncle Jun brought me here, he said that we’ll make cupcakes and have more pistachio ice cream!”
“Oh he did?” You tried to laugh along his happiness, how innocent he was on just how you almost died of worry and anxiety over the past two hours. The tears that fell down your eyes cannot be held back, the wave of emotions that you felt just won’t subside.
“Why are you crying mama? Do you want a cupcake too?” He willingly offered to you the chocolate pastry on his hand, you just shook your head no.
“Nothing, Mama was just very tired at work today, Jaejin. I’m just very happy to see you.”
“Aw, I don’t like seeing my Mama sad. Is your new boss bad? Should I make him face the wall, mama? I don’t like seeing you cry.” Jaejin tried to wipe the tears that fell down your eyes, even blowing it a little in attempt to make it dry.
You just wanted to hold your son for a little longer, just memorize how warm he feels to your touch. How his giggles sound and how he cares for you like no one else would ever do. Because the past two hours just made you realize that Jaejin has been and is now your life, and it would kill you to lose him on your sight.
You saw a silhouette walk towards the both of you from the kitchen, donning a white work shirt and slacks. And you stood up from your seat and cleared your throat as you shot him your most threatening look. Lowering your head once more, you talked to Jaejin “Go ahead and have more cupcakes, bunny. Me and Uncle Jun have something to talk about.” Jaejin gave you a sweet peck on the cheek before joyfully prancing to the kitchen again.
You shared a look with Junmyeon and you knew just what will transpire between the both of you.
He started walking towards the study to which you followed suit. The environment was closed enough and you could lash out all your frustrations toward this man without worrying that Jaejin will hear you. You entered first and you quickly turned back to him once he closed the door.
“What the fuck, Junmyeon!?” Your hand smashed against the hard oak wood of the table, creating a loud thud that resonated within the space. “You’d really kidnap Jaejin from me? I thought we agreed on how we’ll do this?”
“I never officially agreed on anything, Y/N. And kidnapping? How will I kidnap my own child? If there’s someone who hid Jaejin away it was you!” He was still relatively calm besides the fact that his voice raised a few volumes up.
“That’s out of the damn topic, Junmyeon! You just took him without me knowing and you even emptied all his things in our apartment. Who the fuck in the right mind pulls stunts like those?”
“I was just trying to protect him! You’re the one here risking him, always leaving him alone anywhere. First he was lost in a large mall, now he’s left alone in a daycare for hours. Tell me, are you even competent enough to be a mother if you put your son in all these kinds of danger?” You gasped at his accusation.
“I, alone, raised Jaejin for six fucking years, Junmyeon. Just because you have all this money and wealth doesn’t mean you’re so much of a better person than me.” You pointed at him, “Besides he’s only ever in danger because of you, Junmyeon. So don’t go and put the blame on me.”
“What? Now suddenly I’m the bad guy. I barely knew Jaejin for a week and I’m the one putting him in danger?” His tone finally changed.
“Jaejin is always in danger because he’s your son, Junmyeon.”
“If you’re talking about being in danger because I’m rich, that fails to make any sense as I can afford all the protection he deserves.” Junmyeon reasoned out, walking to the other side of the table.
“No, he’s in danger because of what you do. He’s in danger because of all these people that surrounds you and your job, Junmyeon. Stop playing innocent because I know that you aren’t, Suho.” You dropped the bomb you’ve been carrying for years, Junmyeon’s mouth was now wide and agape on the sudden revelation.
“What? What are you talking about?” He stuttered
“Come on, Junmyeon. Stop playing fucking games. You say Jaejin is in danger? That's because your whole life revolves on playing with fire and walking on thin ice. Dealing and transferring all this bad shit known to mankind all over the globe.Having an army protect all the kinds of the worst people, protecting these killers. What parent in the world would not be frantic over their child’s safety if they’re running an illegal business guised as a shipping company.” Trembling was present in your hands, you don’t know how long the strength you feigned would put up with all the fear that’s deep inside your heart.
“What… How? When?” Was all the barely audible musings that fell out of Junmyeon’s lips. You turned away, in attempt to leave. But you’ve barely even reached the study’s doors when he spoke again.
“You can’t leave. Not anymore.”
“Why? Because I know how pungent your life is, Junmyeon? Would you kill me because I know what breed of asshole you are?” You felt your eyes as they started to water, tears slowly trickling down your face for the umpteenth time for today.
“No. Because Jaejin’s not leaving here. If you want to see your son, you stay here with him. If you want to leave, I’ll make sure this is the last time you’ll ever land your eyes on him.”
Summary: Chanyeol isn’t too happy about getting blamed, so he decides to play with a little fire.
Suho knits his fingers together, sighing. He throws a glare at the two men seated on either side of him. “You better have a good explanation for this.”
“But hyung,” Sehun is first to speak, pouting. “I did what I had to!”
“Had to?” Suho repeats, eyes narrowing on the youngest. He massages the bridge of his nose. “Sehun, why didn’t you just grab the Love Shot and leave? Setting her house on fire? You attracted too much attention! I had a hell of a time getting my ex-partner off our case.”
Sehun crosses his arms, huffing. Suho turns to the other male. “This is partly your fault too, Chanyeol. Why would you agree to this?”
Chanyeol shrugs, “He got me at the word ‘fire.’”
Suho groans, pressing his fingers against his temple. “You guys are killing me. No more setting things on fire, do you hear me?”
Chanyeol grumbles out a reply before they are excused. Sehun kicks at the ground once they’re out of Suho’s earshot. “Man, I hate getting yelled at by him.”
“I blame you.” Chanyeol scrunches his nose. “It’s all your fault, stupid.”
Sehun glares at him, “Right, it’s not like someone was excited to set things on fire!”
Chanyeol gasps, clutching at his chest. “You asked me for help! I’m the arsonist! What were you expecting me to do?”
They glare at each other for a while before they both sigh. Chanyeol grumbles, “Whatever. I’m going to go find Jongdae.”
Chanyeol heads towards Jongdae’s room, not bothering to knock. As expected, Jongdae is swirling a glass of brandy while reading something. Chanyeol doesn’t say a word before he plops down in the seat on the other side of Jongdae’s desk.
“Was it Suho?” Jongdae asks without looking up, and Chanyeol lets out a loud sigh.
“Yeah, he yelled at me for arson.”
Jongdae scoffs, rummaging his drawing and pulling out a picture of an inkblot, and shows it to Chanyeol. “What do you see?”
Chanyeol growls. “Are you joking right now?”
Jongdae lets out a laugh, tucking the picture back into his drawer. “Aw come on! I just wanted to know what you would see.”
Chanyeol sighs, drumming his fingers on the desk in annoyance. “This isn’t funny, man. Your “job” as a therapist isn’t really doing us any favors, you know. Maybe it’s time you changed jobs?”
Jongdae rolls his eyes. “Right, and your job as an arsonist is doing us a lot of ‘favors.’”
Chanyeol throws a glare at Jongdae, who merely chuckles in response. “Oh! Speaking of arson, the theatre got set on fire yesterday.”
“Theatre?” Chanyeol furrows his brows. “Didn’t you get it for your girl?”
“Yeah, well,” Jongdae twirls his glass, a smirk on his lips. “I got bored.”
Chanyeol huffs, standing, turning towards the door. Jongdae hums. “Leaving so soon?”
Chanyeol merely waves his hand in goodbye before walking out.
You flip the lighter in your hand, twirling it gracefully as you stare up at the sky, inky with smoke. You’re soon basked in shadow, and when you turn, you find a familiar face frowning down at you. “Hello, Chanyeol.”
“Hi.” His voice drops like a brick.
You can’t help the twitch in your lips, though you try hard not to smile. “Upset?”
“You stole my job!” Chanyeol juts a finger into your chest, his frown turning into a pout now.
It’s impossible not to laugh as you swirl, feeling the hot current of the fire blow your hair back. “I am better at this job than you, Yeol.”
He scowls now, the fire in the distance reflected in his eyes and making them burn bright. “No you’re not. You’re a freelancer and convenient, that’s all.”
“Still better.” You flick his nose, catching him by surprise as you grin. “Why get bogged down by a mafia? You should be like me, hopping around and setting things on fire. It’s easier to get away too.”
He rubs at his nose, throwing a glare at you. “Right, and I would like that lifestyle, why?”
You roll your eyes. “You’re bored, aren’t you? Come on, you can’t possible say you aren’t tired of sticking with the same people all the time. EXO has gotten so fucking boring that you guys are trying to steal stupid bottles of alcohol. Tell me you guys haven’t hit your lowest point.”
Chanyeol scowls, turning away from you. “We are the most feared mafia. You are nothing but a stray cat hopping from place to place.” He sneers.
You let a laugh bubble from your lips, “Come with me, Yeol.” You grab his hand, leading him to your motorcycle. You get on, throwing him a helmet, which he declines. You sigh as he gets on. “Don’t blame me if you fall and crack your head open.”
He scoffs. “As if I would fall. Where are we going?”
You smile, a devilish look which he knows all too well. You’re definitely planning for trouble. You start up the engine, zooming off and letting the wind whip at your hair, the feeling so ecstatic and free.
“So,” Chanyeol says, leaning in so you can hear him over the rush of the wind, his voice deep and hazy and making you shiver. “Where exactly are you taking me?”
"You'll see." You answer, speeding up with a giddy laugh.
Soon, the familiar structure of EXO’s base comes into view. Chanyeol frowns, growling in your ear, “Why did you bring me here of all places?”
You don’t answer, slowing to a halt as you park your motorcycle to the side, hidden. You flash him a smile, heading into the base. Chanyeol follows, a frown still on his face, clearly confused on what you’re about to do.
You enter confidently, having been here several times before on jobs. You’ve partnered with Chanyeol countless times for arson missions, so you know your way around their base quite well.
The bar is the same as you remember, and you easily spot the wooden crate labled Love Shot. You grin, taking out the lighter from your pocket, twirling it in your hands.
“Don’t tell me,” Chanyeol murmurs, eyeing the lighter. “You’re planning on setting it on fire.”
“Are you going to stop me?” You ask teasingly, igniting a flame on the lighter and holding it out towards him.
He watches you carefully for a moment, the light of the flame flickering in his eyes. A grin slowly appears on his face, a lazy look to him. “Should I?”
He grabs the lighter from you and, without hesitation, throws it into the crate. The wood instantly catches on fire, growing bigger and brighter. Such a pretty color. Chanyeol takes a few steps back, his smile wider as he admires the sight.
He opens his mouth, searching for words yet he doesn’t know what to say in the heat of the moment.
Then he bursts out laughing.
Reeling, clutching at his stomach as he guffaws. The heat makes his tan skin glisten with sweat, gleaming in the light and adding delicious definition to his rippling muscles. “Holy shit Suho is going to kill me.” But he only laughs harder, wiping tears out of his eyes. Then he turns swiftly to leave, with you following close behind.
It won’t take the others long to realize there’s a fire, so you’ll have to make your escape quickly.
You hurry to your motorcycle, calling, “You coming?”
He doesn’t hesitate to get on, and you start the engine, rushing off. Your heart is racing and you can’t help the wide smile that grows on your face. Holy shit you just set fire to EXO’s stuff! The feeling is incredible.
You head to the place you’re staying at, a cheap little motel, and get off. Chanyeol takes in the place, wrinkling his nose in distaste. “Man, I thought you would have better taste.”
You roll your eyes. “Please, this place is cheap and it’s only temporary.”
“You have more than enough money to get an actual place to stay instead of this crap.” Chanyeol says, following you inside.
You head to the third floor to your room, and you hurl yourself onto the bed the second you enter. “So, hotshot, how do you feel?”
“Exhilarated and terrified at the same time.” Chanyeol answers with a lopsided grin as he sinks down on the bed with you. “But more exhilarated.”
“You didn’t have to do that.” You point out. “You could’ve stopped me. And yet you were stupid enough to throw the lighter in yourself.”
“Yeah, well.” He chuckles. “It’s what I do.”
There’s a soft buzz that fills the room, and Chanyeol fishes out his phone from his pocket. He answers, and you can hear Suho’s yelling from here. Chanyeol doesn’t look fazed though, nor does he look guilty. “Yeah…yeah…I’m coming, alright? Calm down.”
The call ends, and you raise a brow at Chanyeol. He scoffs, pocketing his phone again before getting up, stretching. “Suho isn’t happy. He wants me back right now.”
“I can tell.” You answer, your eyes following his movements. “So what’re you going to do?”
“Life’s no fun without a little fire.” There’s a mischievous spark in his eyes. “Let’s be honest, it was his fault for banning me from arson. He had it coming. And you,” in a flash, he has you pinned down on the bed. You don’t try to struggle though, as you stare at his astonishingly blue eyes, but you can see the fire underneath, burning bright. He breathes out, warm against your skin. “have been naughty, getting me into trouble like that.”
You snicker, trailing your hands down his chest and feeling the muscles ripple. “Me? You knew what you were getting into when you came to find me.”
He chuckles lowly, the sound vibrating and making you shiver. “Yeah, but can you blame me?” He leans in, breath tickling your ear and neck. “I’ve always had a thing for playing with fire. You just have that kind of quality to you.”
His lips burn a searing path against your neck, earning a moan which is quickly silenced when he presses his lips against yours. He moves languidly against you, as if he has all the time in the world, but you meet him with urgency. You curl your fingers into his soft hair, arching your body against his.
Everything is hot, like a blanket of fire around you. And yet it’s so utterly addicting, this sense of exhilaration and euphoria. You can’t get away. He smells of smoke and alcohol, hazy and lovely.
“Careful now,” Chanyeol murmurs teasingly when he pulls away, “or you’ll get burned.”
“I’ve never felt scared.” You counter, and he flashes you a boyish grin.
He’s up in seconds, ruffling his hair and smoothing out his shirt, heading towards the door. You sit up, trying to catch your breath, your cheeks flushed with heat as you watch him leave. Suddenly you’re left cold, as if he just stole all of your heat.
It’s a feeling that you’ve never experienced before.
“You still have a long way to go.” He says, grabbing a lighter from your desk and slipping it into his pocket. “It’s more fun this way,” he turns back towards you, a teasing smile on his lips, “isn’t it?”
Everything his fire touches has turned to ash.

Alluring Mini Masterlist
A/N: Hope you liked this chap! I’m trying to get this done so I can start new projects, so please give it a lot of love!
Summary: You’re sure that EXO is involved in the recent arson case you’ve been on. Now all you need is the evidence.
“Alright, ma’am. What’s wrong?”
The woman has a determined look on her face, a kind of hurt in her eyes. “My house burned down.”
You look through the file you were given about the case. “Yes. A few days ago, right?”
“Yes.” She nods.
You stare at her. “…And? You said you had something else to add to the case?”
“It wasn’t an accident.” She says firmly. “It was arson.”
“Arson.” You repeat, glancing down at the file again. “There was no evidence of it being deliberate. Why do you say that?”
“I know who did it.”
“Who?”
She leans in, eyes glancing around as if to see if anyone is listening, voice dropping low. “EXO.”
You furrow your brows, looking at her as if to make sure you heard her correct. She looks dead serious, expression grim.
You lean back in your seat. “EXO. And you have proof?”
“Well, no.” She answers, sighing. “But he told me himself! I’m can act as witness.”
“Yes, but you didn’t actually see him do it, right?” You ask and she looks stumped for a moment before sadly shaking her head no.
You sigh. “Alright, ma’am. I’ll keep that in mind. Don’t worry, we’ll investigate it.”
The woman nods dejectedly, rising from her seat. She turns to leave, but turns back at the last moment, grabbing your hand. “Please, please believe me. It’s EXO, I swear!”
“I understand, ma’am.” You say comfortingly, gently prying her hands off your arm. “We’ll do what we can.”
Her lower lip wobbles and she seems as if she might cry. She nods, thanking you before leaving.
“Well?”
You turn to find your partner, Junmyeon, looking at you with crossed arms. “Well what?”
“What did she say?” He asks, glancing at the case folder. “She had something to add about the fire?”
“Yeah.” You sigh, handing the folder to him to glimpse over. There’s not much reason to read it again though. The two of you have read through it dozens of times already, and have found nothing suspicious about the fire. Your department has done thorough investigation on the case, and have come up empty-handed. You were ready to close the case as a normal accident, but now you’re not too sure. “She said EXO did it.”
“EXO?” Junmyeon repeats, surprised. “That mafia gang? Why would they do that?”
You shrug. “Well, she’s the daughter of a wealthy, powerful man. Maybe there was enmity between them.”
“I don’t know.” Junmyeon frowns. “Sounds a bit sloppy to me, to be honest. They could have much better ways to destroy a person—and no one even died. Doesn’t sound like EXO habit.”
You shrug, nodding at his reasoning. “That’s true, I guess. Still, I’ll go take another look at the scene. You coming?”
Junmyeon shakes his head, “I’ve still got to finish the report for the last case, but tell me what you find—if you find anything.” He flashes you a warm smile, waving as you throw on your jacket, heading out the building.
“Sorry I called on such a short notice.” You tell the police officers. “A woman came to me this morning saying it wasn’t an accident.”
“It’s no problem.” One of them says, following you under the barricade tape. “But we searched through the scene several times already with no findings.”
“I know.” You answers, looking around the place for what seems like the tenth time. “But if it really wasn’t an accident, there has to be some evidence left.”
You search through the ash with gloved hands, digging for anything that might have survived the fire. Nothing. You find several shattered bottles of what used to be alcohol, but you were told they had a wine cellar so that’s not strange.
After hours of search, you finally sigh, giving up. Nothing. The reports of the fire show that the fire started from a cigar, which is a very common occurrence. Nothing suspicious there either.
“Find anything?” The officers as as you pull of your gloves, and you shake your head.
“Nothing.” You answers and no one seems surprised. They’re all thorough in their search, so in all honesty you weren’t expecting to find anything. It was still worth a shot, though.
“Can I take a look around the perimeter?” You ask, and they nod. You survey the area, seeing where an attacker could have come from or where they escaped. The house is surrounded by trees, so it’s not hard for the attacker to escape into the woods.
Following this idea, you head a little farther into the trees, looking around. No footprints—you checked before. No car tracks either.
No tracks doesn’t necessarily mean it was an accident, though. Practiced offenders like EXO will have no problem covering their tracks. But that also means there’s no evidence.
You sigh, again finding nothing. You begin to turn back when you catch sight of something.
Something…blue?
You kneel, putting on new gloves and grabbing tweezers from your bag. You pluck it out of the soil and examine it. It seems like a petal from a flower. A rose, perhaps.
You place it gently and carefully into a ziplock bag, bringing it back to the officers. “Hey, are there any roses growing around here?”
“Roses?” An officers repeats, looking at her team. “No, I don’t think so.”
You frown at the worn petal. It’s already mostly brown, wrinkled, and it was imprinted into the soil as if it had been stepped on, so it must have been here for a while… “Alright, I’m going to call it a day. Thanks for being here, guys. Go home and get some rest.”
“Hello?”
“Hi, I’m the officer you spoke to yesterday, remember me?” You speak into the phone, a notepad ready in your hands for any important notes you might discover.
“Oh, yes.” The woman answers, sounding eager. “Did you find anything?”
“Maybe,” you answer. “I looked around your house and find a blue rose petal imprinted in the soil nearby. Would you happen to know where it came from? For example, did you have any blue roses in your house?”
“It’s Sehun!” She exclaims immediately. “Oh Sehun. He’s a member of EXO and always wears a lapel blue rose pin. He told me himself that he got someone to burn the house!”
Your eyes widen as you immediately jot down the name. You’re sure you’re heard of him, or read about him somewhere. She certainly isn’t making this up. “Why would he do that?”
“He wanted something…” She says, trailing off. “He insisted on seeing our wine cellar, and the day after he saw it our house burned down.”
Wine cellar…interesting. “He told you he did it?” You ask her. “Did you see him do it, though?”
“Well, no.” She answers slowly. “But it’s him. Please believe me. You have to catch him!”
“I’m working on it.” You tell her gently. “Thank you for your time. I’ll do everything I can to get to the bottom of this.”
You bid her goodbye and hang up. You look at your notes, tapping your pen against your chin thoughtfully. You’re sure this information will be useful.
You flip through the file on EXO, stopping at the document with Sehun’s name and picture at the the top. You scan through the minimum details, sighing in defeat when you can’t find much information. There’s hardly anything on EXO, other than their names and some side notes, nothing that can help you on this case.
Junmyeon comes in, tapping you gently on the shoulder. “Hey, how’s the search coming?”
You snap the folder closed, playing it back on the shelf, sighing. “Some clues, but no evidence.”
“You know, maybe it wasn’t EXO after all.” Junmyeon says. “You know, that woman might’ve been lying. The rose petal you found could actually be from her house, but she wanted to frame EXO.”
“Why would she do that?” You ask, your tone almost accusing.
Junmyeon shrugs. “I’m just saying. I’m worried about you. You tend to go poking around dangerous places and I don’t want you getting hurt.” His eyes darkness. “You know how terrifying EXO is.”
Your eyes softens on Junmyeon, and you squeeze his arm. “I’ll be okay, I promise. But I have to find out who did this.”
Junmyeon looks at you for a second, searching your eyes before he finally sighs, nodding. “Okay, but please, be safe.”
EXO’s base.
Your heart thuds in your chest, and you hold your gun close, pointing downwards and ready to shoot at any moment.
You glance at your surroundings, finding no one there. After several sleepless nights of research and scouring, you finally managed to find your way here. There’s no mistaking it—This is EXO’s base and you’re taking Oh Sehun with you for the crime of arson.
Hopefully you’ll uncover even more evidence for all their past crimes on the way.
You enter silently, glancing around cautiously. Strange…no one seems to be here. You didn’t expect EXO’s base to be this empty, or this unguarded.
You reach for your mic, ready to call for backup at any moment. In all honesty, you should’ve called for backup before you came in, but you wanted to find him yourself first, if possible.
There’s a door that’s half open up ahead, light streaming out. You swallow, making your way towards it.
You peak in, and then you feel a sharp pain against your neck.
The world fades around you as you hit the ground.
You groan, your head throbbing. You try to move, but find your hands and feet tied. Alert, you struggle harder, looking at your surroundings. Your gun and mic are both gone, leaving you defenseless.
Your heart leaps, and you try to find something that can help you escape. Maybe a piece of glass, or anything sharp to cut these ropes.
“So,” a voice breathes, and your blood runs cold. “You found us.”
“J-Junmyeon?” You ask, recognizing the voice immediately. Your head snaps up, watching his familiar form emerge from the dark shadows. There’s a devilish smile on his face you’ve never seen before.
“Hey.” He greets casually. He moves towards you, footsteps clicking off the floor loudly, clearly. He grabs your cheeks, leaning down and giving you a look of mock pity while clicking his tongue. “I told you to stop researching. If you had stopped, I wouldn’t have to do this.”
“I-I don’t understand.” You stammer, heart ramming against your ribs. “Junmyeon?”
“Suho.” He corrects. “My name is Suho, and I am part of EXO.” His grin only grows at your shocked expression, realization dawning on you.
“No wonder,” you whisper, “no wonder why the police could never find enough evidence to arrest EXO. It was you!”
He laughs, his voice ringing out and bringing chills down your back. “Yes, you’re right. I was the one who helped cover EXO’s tracks.”
You growl, struggling harder in your binds. “How could you? I trusted you! I’m going to arrest you for your crimes!”
Junmyeon laughs heartily, holding his stomach. “You? You won’t even be able to step out of this place if I don’t allow it. What do you think you can do? Besides,” he leans in, eyes calm and cold, “I have lots of connections. How do you think we were able to stay unharmed for so long? It wouldn’t be hard to get rid of you. And what if you report me? Do you think anyone would believe you when you have no evidence?”
You tremble, glaring at him with all your might because—he’s right. You have no evidence. He has all the cards in his hands and you have nothing.
You’ve lost.
He sighs, shaking his head. “Seeing as we’ve been partners for so long, see this as a warning. Don’t go poking around about EXO ever again, or it won’t be just a warning next time.” He traces a finger down your cheek. “Wouldn’t want to ruin this pretty face of yours, now would we?”
“Why?” You manage to spit out. “Why did Sehun set her house on fire? What did he want?”
“The Love Shot.” He answers. “We wanted it, so we took it.”
Your eyes widen in disbelief. “That illegal alcohol? All this for just that?”
He shrugs indifferently. “It’s fun.”
“You’re resigning?” The chief asks in surprise. “But you’re one of the best officers we have.”
“Yes, sir.” You answer, looking down. “I…I always wanted to stop crime and bring justice, but…not everything is as easy as I thought. I-I’m not suited to be a police officer. I’m sorry.”
The chief sighs, shaking his head. “Are you sure you don’t want more time to think about it? I can hold onto the letter for a while.”
You shake your head. “No, I’ve already made up my mind. I’m going to resign.”
He nods sadly. “Well, that’s too bad. I wish you luck in whatever you do next.”
You manage to smile at him. “Thank you, sir.”
You exit his office heading down the hallway with a heavy heart. You just gave up your dream, but to continue as a police officer when you know EXO is working here as well…you just can’t.
You stop when you see a form up ahead. Junmyeon—Suho leans against the wall casually, a teasing smile on his face.
“You made the right choice.” He murmurs, his voice bringing you waves of rage, and you clench your fists.
“You won’t get away forever.” You hiss. “One day you’ll definitely fall, and fall hard.”
Suho merely laughs. “I can’t wait.”

A/N: I’m so sorry I haven’t been updating lately! School is killing me, but I hope you liked this chap!
“Baekhyun, he’s not someone you should mess with.”
Baekhyun cocks his head at his brother-in-arms—Minseok, always the sensible, level-headed one. “I’m not scared of him.”
Minseok’s eyes narrow, an exasperated sigh leaving his lips. “Well, you should be. He’s got twice the men we do—no, triple. You think you can get in and out without a scratch?”
Baekhyun laughs.
“Who do you think I am, hyung?”
Getting to your room is too easy.
The gates, as expected, were guarded heavily. Not a problem to Baekhyun, though. His men are more than capable to deal with goons like them. They’ll take them out quietly, not a scream to be heard.
The moon is especially beautiful tonight.
Skillfully scaling the side of the extravagant mansion, he lands gracefully on your balcony, not a hair out of place as he straightens.
He breathes out, looking through the glass to find you asleep. The door clicks open—it seems you didn’t bother to lock it. A fatal mistake.
He casually makes his way to you, his shoes silent against your carpet. Your face truly is as beautiful as the rumors say.
A smile grows on Baekhyun’s face as he skims his knuckles across your cheek. “Time to wake up, sleeping beauty.”
Your eyes flutter open immediately, eyes widening at the unfamiliar—yet beautiful—man. You move instantly, mouth opening to let out an alarming scream yet Baekhyun is too ready for it. He covers your mouth, leaning you back until he’s only a hairsbreadth away, a teasing smile on his handsome face.
“Shh, princess. There’s no need to be afraid.” His voice is lovely, and you shiver. “I’m not here to hurt you.”
Shouts and heavy footsteps can soon be heard from outside. Gunshots follow and your heart accelerates, bruising against your ribs.
“We should get out of here.” He smiles warmly at you. “Before they find me.”
He rests a hand on your waist, and easily hoists you onto his shoulder. He looks thin, but is quite strong. You scream, screaming for someone to save you and your father’s men burst into your room, guns aimed at your kidnapper. “Byun Baekhyun!”
You freeze, recognizing that name. A name that has been uttered in fear all over the city. Byun Baekhyun, the Covetous Prince.
“Oh, it seems like time’s up.” Baekhyun says pleasantly, breaking into a run towards the balcony.
Bullets whiz past you, and you yelp, terrified for your life. Your father bounds into your room as well, yelling furiously at his men. “You fools! You’ll hit her too!”
Baekhyun laughs, balancing dangerously on the railing, turning back towards your father. “Have a good night, sir.”
And then he falls backwards.
The feeling of free-falling is terrifying. Your stomach flips, the wind knocked out of you and you’re sure you never screamed so loud in your life. You reach out, wanting to grab onto something to stop your fall, and you see your father rush to the balcony side, trying to grab you too.
But it’s too late.
You come to an abrupt stop as Baekhyun lands effortlessly on the grass, and you hadn’t realized it, but you instinctively grabbed onto him tightly.
He salutes at your father mockingly before making his escape, whistling to signal for his men to follow.
A car filled with flowers in the trunk awaits outside. He sets you down, sinking into a bow with his hand out to you as he waits for you to get in. “It’s only fitting for a lady like you.”
The mock freedom is just for show. You are surrounded by his men; you couldn’t make a run for it even if you tried. You gulp, having no choice but to take his hand and get into his car.
The car ride left you drained. An hour of complete silence, stifled by the armed men surrounding you in the small car. No guns are aimed at you though; Baekhyun had insisted it was not right to treat a lady that way.
Though he did just kidnap you.
You have long left the perimeters of the city. All you can see in the night are trees and more trees. You can barely see the road in front of you. But soon, a mansion comes into view. It glows under the pale moonlight, giving it an ethereal appearance.
Baekhyun helps you out, leading you into the mansion like a gentlemen. If only his men did not surround you so intimidatingly.
The doors open, leading into an extravagant living room, painted in white and outlined in gold. A brilliant chandelier hangs overhead.
A man with tyrian purple hair, just a little lighter than the shade of Baekhyun’s hair, makes his way towards Baekhyun. His eyes are strict and calculating, his shoes clicking off the polished marble floor, creating an eerie echo. The sound comes to a halt as he stops at arms length from Baekhyun. He eyes glance over to you, and you gulp, feeling yourself shrink under his gaze. “All that trouble for a girl?”
Baekhyun grins, gesturing for a few of his men to come forward. They hold large black bags, which they throw on the floor beside the two men. “I also bring money.”
The man’s eyes flicker over towards the bags uncaringly. “Hm.”
“But Minseok-hyung,” Baekhyun moves so that he’s suddenly behind you, and you don’t dare move. His hands trace your jaw, the curve of your neck and you swallow thickly. “Isn’t she as beautiful as they say? She’s a fine jewel to keep.”
Minseok. Kim Minseok. You recognize that name as well.
Minseok turns away, snapping his fingers, ordering his men. “Start a fire in the garage. Bring the money with you.”
Baekhyun chuckles, moving away from you and you finally manage to breathe. He gestures for you to follow them. “Come, princess.”
There are men all over the place, watching your every move. You have no choice but to follow them towards the garage. There, a fire has already been started in a large bowl, the bundles of money are on a table beside it.
“Baekhyun.” Minseok calls, standing next to the flames. The tongues of fire casts a menacing glow to his face.
Baekhyun joins Minseok, the two of them standing beside each other, staring at the flames.
And then they toss the money into it.
You gasp, shocked at the unexpectedness. Why would they burn the money they tried so hard to steal?
But they throw the money in so carelessly, watching them burn without a sliver of emotion.
“Money means nothing to us.” Baekhyun says silkily. “We have way too much of it.”
Then why steal it? You want to ask, but words die in your throat as he walks towards you, his steps slow, precise, confident. He knows you cannot run, and you know that too. Painfully, devastatingly so.
He holds out a hand, curling a strand of your hair around his finger. “I apologize for doing all this just before your wedding.” Baekhyun says casually. “But you see, I don’t like the thought of you becoming someone else’s.”
You sink your teeth into your lower lip, managing a glare at your captor. You were just about to be married to a wealthy, powerful man. You thought you would be able to be happy. You speak, trying to keep the tremor out of your voice, to sound braver than you feel. “Kidnapping me will do you no good. I will never be yours.”
Baekhyun chuckles, leaning in to give you a clear view of his dark eyes, filled with mischief, greed, and absolutely no love. “If a flower is to be picked by a man, why not me? I always get what I want, princess.” He kisses the strand of your hair he was playing with. “There’s nowhere to run.”
And with a painful jolt of realization, you know he’s right. Here, in his lair, surrounded by his men, you cannot escape. Even your father, who is powerful and wealthy, has not the power nor courage to come here. No one is insane enough to do that, unless they wish to die.
To enter the devil’s lair.
And from this moment on, you belong to the Covetous Prince, Byun Baekhyun. The Devil himself.

A/N: Welp. I couldn’t help myself, so here you go. Love Shot mafia Baekhyun. More fics will be coming, so look forward to that~
Summary: That man is at every social event you attend—a man who always wears a lapel blue rose pin.
It’s him again.
Your eyes involuntarily follow him everywhere. You ever only see flashes of him, weaving in and out of the crowd.
He’s present in almost every social event you attend. You assume he must be very important then.
You’ve been forced to attend these things ever since you learned how to talk. It was a requirement of the daughter of a successful businessman who needed to keep up with appearances and connections. Your father always liked showing off his ‘happy family.’
And you, well, are his prized jewel. His pride. His joy. But secretly you know he wished you were a son so you could take over the business. You know he secretly couldn’t care less about you, though he buys you whatever you want to keep you happy and smiling. Can’t have you shredding his reputation, now could he?
The mysterious man is what keeps you at these events. You’ve grown extremely tired of them, but it’s not so bad when you have something to focus on. You’re always searching for traces of him.
That man who always wears a lapel blue rose pin.
“Hi.”
You roll your eyes as someone comes up to you, a man with a lopsided smile, holding a glass of champagne. You force yourself to smile back, and with years of practice, it comes out natural. “Hello.”
“You look lovely as ever.” He says, probably thinking he sounds smooth. “You always shine amongst the others.”
“Thank you.” You mentally cringe, searching for a way out of this conversation. Your parents are busy chatting with some other people, so you’re stuck. You try to think of an excuse to leave. “I—”
“May I have this dance?”
You whirl around to find—that man! That man with the label blue rose pin, the color an astonishing ice blue. His face is more handsome than you could have imagined, hair curling over his forehead and a lazy smile on his lips. He looks lax, holding his hand out for you. He raises a perfect brow, eyes darting towards the man you were talking to, as if asking if you would rather go with him.
Oh, of course you would.
You grab his hand, and he leads you out onto the dance floor, away from unwanted conversation.
You’ve never really danced before—not willingly, at least. His movements are precise, confident, elegant as he leads you, a mischievous smile on his lips all the while.
“Um, thanks.” You mumble, feeling your cheeks flare up. “For helping me.”
“You’re welcome.” He says pleasantly, eyes crinkling. “I’m Oh Sehun.”
“Oh Sehun?” You repeat, somehow feeling as if that name sounds familiar. But you can’t quite place your finger on it, especially when he’s looking at you like that, eyes dark and alluring.
He smiles again, and your heart stutters.
“Why do you always carry a blue rose?” You ask, fingering the delicate petals.
Sehun comes out of the shower, steam pouring out the open door. A towel is wrapped around his torso, giving you a clear view of his toned chest. His dark hair sticks to his forehead, water dripping down the side of his face. He shrugs, “I just like it.”
He comes over, plucking the rose from your hand and bringing it to his smirking lips. “Do you know the meanings of a blue rose?”
He leans down, towering over you. Droplets of water hit your face. His warm hand grabs your thigh. You gulp, mind blanking as his lips meet yours.
“In here?” Sehun asks, voice low in order not to wake your parents. You’ve been dating him for almost a month, yet you didn’t dare tell your parents. He was the one who insisted you don’t, worried they might not approve. You’re not sure why they wouldn’t though—if he’s at the events you attend, he must be from a reputable family. But he’s never really talked about himself.
You nod in response, feeling your heart pounding against your ribs in a bruising pace. Excitement mingled with fear bubbles in your stomach. Sneaking him in was the riskiest and most exhilarating thing you’ve ever done.
He flashes you a reassuring smile, fingers lacing with yours and giving you a comforting squeeze. “We’ll be quick.”
You nod again, leading him down to the wine cellar. Sehun had asked for you to show it to him countless times before, but you were always hesitant to bring him into your own home. It was much too risky, but this time you finally gave in.
He promised to just take a peek, so you guess it couldn’t hurt. It would be quick, just in and out.
You never liked going to the wine cellars. It’s mostly dark and stifling, and you hardly come down here at all.
Sehun walks around the cellar, hands in his pockets as he surveys the place. He seems to be searching for something, but just when you’re about to ask, he turns back to you with a charming smile, pulling you in for a quick kiss.
“Thanks, love.” He coos.
Your house is on fire.
You woke up hearing shouts and screams. Everything smells like smoke, and when you run to the hallway you find it covered in flames. One of your maids grabs your arm, urging you to quickly leave through the back. It seems the front entrance had completely collapsed.
Your sight is hazy from the smoke, and it’s getting harder and harder to breathe. You run out to find your parents safe and sound, and you sob in relief. Your father is yelling at the servants, trying to find ways to put out the fire.
“What happened?” You cry out, hearing the firetruck’s siren in the distance.
“I don’t know.” Your mother answers solemnly, shaking her head. “Everything is gone…Oh, how terrible…”
You feel yourself trembling. You watch in horror at the scarlet flames, licking up the walls, crackling like laughter of the devil.
Your stomach churns, and you wonder if it might not have been an accident.
You haven’t seen or heard from Sehun since the incident. You couldn’t get a hold of him no matter how hard you tried.
You’re at another social event. The fire burned down a lot, but it didn’t destroy everything. Your father’ been working harder than ever to re-earn what was lost, but it’s been horrible ever since especially when everyone’s flashing you pitiful looks.
You roll your eyes, wanting to get away. Maybe a quick run to the “bathroom.”
You turn, but freeze.
Your eyes grow wide.
A flash of ice blue flies past your vision.
Sehun!
You break into a run, not caring about your high heels or your shallow reputation. You chase after his silhouette, out to the streets and watch as he gets into a car.
You groan in frustration, rushing to get into your own car.
“Oh!” The driver exclaims, turning towards you in surprise. “Is the party over so soon?”
“Drive!” You bark, ignoring his question. “Follow that blue car ahead!”
“B-But—” Your driver stutters and you growl at him.
“Drive.” You hiss menacingly and he nods, pressing on the gas and zooming off to follow Sehun’s car.
You follow him for a long time, until the city fades and you wonder where he’s going. Is he leaving the city?
His car comes to a stop at an extravagant mansion. It seems out of place here, in the middle of nowhere. You tell your driver to park off to the side, to stay hidden.
You get out, watching from behind the trees as Sehun enters the mansion. You bite your lower lip, wondering if you should follow.
Suddenly you hear your driver cry out, and you turn around to see what’s wrong but feel a stinging pain to your neck instead, and the world fades away.
Your arms and legs are tied. You blink, trying to clear your mind, and you find yourself in an unfamiliar room. It seems like a bar of some sort, a counter with a marble top in front of you, and a shelf of alcohol.
You hear the singing of a glass. Sehun is sitting at the counter with a glass of what seems like whiskey, looking bored.
“Sehun?” You croak out, confused.
Sehun’s smile is devilish. “Hey, love.”
“What—” You try to move, feeling the ropes around your limbs. “What is going on?”
He makes his way over, swirling his glass lazily. He sighs. “Why did you follow me? You know, I was going to let you live.”
“What?” You ask, more and more confused. “What are you talking about?”
He merely smiles again.
Something inside you clicks, and your eyes widen in horror as you whisper, “No.”
He traces a finger down the side of your face. “You should have just walked away. No one would’ve gotten hurt.”
You choke out a sob, feeling anger bubbling inside you. “Why? Why did you do that? Someone could’ve died!”
He shrugs. “I don’t really care. But we do have a great arsonist, and he only kills if he wants to.”
Your jaw falls open, and you’re speechless. “I—Who are you?”
He smirks. “Oh Sehun. I’m a member of EXO.”
EXO. Oh Sehun.
Now you know why his name was so familiar. You curse yourself, feeling yourself trembling. “No. You’re lying. No.”
He throws his head back and barks out a laugh. “Sorry, but I’m not. I have no reason to lie to you, love.”
“Don’t call me that.” You seethe. You used to love him calling you that. You thought it was so affectionate, so sweet. Now it feels so disgusting.
He scoffs. “Well, you loved it while we were—”
“Stop!” You scream out, shaking your head furiously, terrified of the words leaving his mouth. You don’t want to be reminded of what you had done. You breathe out heavily, hearing his amused chuckle. “Why did you do it?”
“Your father had something we wanted.” He answers simply, taking a seat again and swirling around almost like a child. But there’s nothing childish in the deadly glint in his eye. “Thanks for showing it to me, by the way.”
A chill runs down your spine. The wine cellar…
“You used me.” The words are bitter on your tongue.
He laughs, shaking his head at you. “Oh, you’re so cute.” He jumps down from the chair, taking a few springy, playful steps towards you. He squeezes your cheeks, forcing you to look at him. “Maybe I’ll keep you after all.”
You growl at him, thrashing in your binds, feeling them cut into your flesh painfully, drawing blood.
Seeing this only makes him laugh harder in amusement. He plucks the blue rose from his lapel, twirling it with his fingers for a moment, then brings it to his lips and gives it a kiss before pinning it delicately into your hair. He takes a step back, admiring it.
Your heart is pounding loudly in your ears. You’re body is cold, frozen in fear. This man has become so foreign to you, so unpredictable. If you tried hard enough you could still feel his skin, hear the steady beat of his heart, remember how his lips felt on yours. You hold your breath as you watch him. You feel limp and lifeless, as if your soul had been sucked out.
“It looks good on you.” He concludes, seeming satisfied. “Do you know what a blue rose means?”
You say nothing, just glaring at him the best you can. He smiles, shrugging. “I guess I’ll let you find out yourself.”
He snaps his fingers, and immediately two men enter the room, and much to your surprise, begins unbinding you. You look at Sehun with wide eyes, not expecting him to let you go—at least, you think he’s letting you go.
“Look,” he finally says with a deep sigh, “You were fun to be with. Take the rose and leave. I’ll ask for you not to come back. I promise I won’t be so nice next time.”
He flashes you a boyish grin, gesturing for his man to lead you out. They grab you by both your arms, practically dragging you out.
Your car is outside, and so is your driver. He’s safe, but looks a bit shaken and you breathe out in relief. You don’t need to be told twice not to come back—you don’t want to see him ever again.
Your driver hurries to leave the place, and you are equally eager. As the scenery rushes by, you can finally let out the breath you were holding. But your chest feels tight and heavy.
You leave with a shattered heart and a wilting blue rose in your hair.

A/N: This one is pretty fast-paced. If you don’t know what a blue rose symbolizes, I recommend searching it up. Might make this fic a little more interesting—or maybe not. Happy New Year, guys!
Summary: After his ruined wedding, Kim Minseok puts all his time into his mafia to distract from the heartache. That’s when he finds himself in a deal with you. The deal is simple: whoever falls in love first, loses.
The only indication that you’re actually awake is your consciousness, the pounding of your heart, the vivid pain on your wrists and legs which are tied down onto the chair you sit in.
You can’t hear anything, and it doesn’t seem like anyone’s here.
The lights suddenly come on.
Blinding, and it’s painful to open your eyes. You squeeze them tight on instinct, hearing footsteps echo, coming closer.
You manage to squint, glaring at the man who calls himself ‘The Taker.’ His face makes you livid, bile rising in your throat.
He grins at you, mirth shining in his eyes. “Now then,” he coos, “be good and tell your underlings to hand over Lotteria, or you get hurt.”
He holds up his phone, most likely filming you. A ransom video, hm?
You spit at him, scowling. “Don’t be stupid. I’m not doing anything for you, and neither will they. I gave them specific orders never to save me if something were to happen to me. Sehun will continue to run the mafia without me. You’ll never have it even if you kill me.”
He narrows his eyes, grabbing you by the collar and yanking you painfully towards him, the binds on your wrists and ankles protesting. “We’ll see about that.”
He pushes you away, almost knocking you backwards as your chair tips back slightly, though you manage to regain your balance. He slaps you across the face, so hard he draws blood. He cackles, snapping a photo of you like that before he leaves.
You’re sure Sehun would never come for you. It’s too risky. He’s too smart to fall for such stupid tricks.
But it’s hard to say you’re not scared.
It’s hard to say you don’t want anyone to save you.
Minseok…
Minseok lets out a yawn. It’s boring staring at the same four walls all day. Chen is in the same cell as him, humming.
“I think it’s almost time.” Minseok says, voice loud as it echoes, allowing the others to hear, though they’re in different cells. “Don’t you think?”
“Yeah.” Chen answers. “They should be here any minute.”
Just then the door opens, revealing a handful of men, all dressed in police uniforms. The one leading them takes off his uniform cap, grinning at them. “Hey, hyung. Ready to get out?”
“Ready as I’ll ever be.” Minseok grins back at Jongin, rising and stretching his sore muscles as Jongin and his men work to unlock the doors. “Come on, boys. We’ve got a man to hunt down.”
Ugh, the hunger is getting unbearable. You haven’t eaten or drank in almost 12 hours, or so you think. Time is an ungraspable concept in a place like this. No sunlight can get in, and everything is always basked in florescent light. It’s making you uncomfortable.
The Taker hasn’t come back in since then. Your mouth stopped bleeding several hours ago, but it’s still sore. Your muscles ache from being in the same position, your wrists and ankles probably scraped from the friction of your binds.
12 hours and counting. How long will you stay here, you wonder? How long until the Taker realizes no one will come for you, that no one will trade anything for you?
How long until he decides to kill you?
You sigh in frustration, upset at yourself for letting this happen. If only you were less impulsive, if only you calmed down and called for backup. If only you hadn’t been so cold to Minseok…
You wonder how he is. Is he really in jail? But surely he can escape from prison easily—it’s not like he’s never been there before.
He must hate you by now. After all, you did try to murder him once. He’s been by your side, protecting you all the while and yet you were so mean towards him.
“How’re you holding up?”
You mentally groan, glaring up at your captor who smirks down at you. Oh, how you wish you could smack that smug look off his face.
He scoffs. “I bet you’re hungry, aren’t you? How long do you think you’ll last? You better pray they come for you quick.”
You manage a laugh. “And I wonder how long your patience will last. Just give it up.”
His eyes narrow, slapping you across the face again, splitting your lip, and this time you do topple over, crashing against your arm, feeling pain shoot up. You growl at him when he moves to pull you back up, one hand around your neck. “I did not go through all this trouble to come empty handed. I will have Lotteria, whether they come for you or not.” He sneers. “But if they do come to you, it would certainly save me a lot of time. I might even let you live.”
You spit blood in his face, watching him pull back with a howl. “Fuck you.”
“You!” He seethes, hands tightening around your neck until you’re choking. “You bitch. I should just kill you now—”
Suddenly an alarm blares, an obnoxious noise that ultimately saves you. He clicks his tongue, hands retreating from around your neck and you cough, air gushing back into your lungs almost painfully.
“They’ve come.” His voice is a mix of delight and annoyance. His footsteps echo when he turns to leave, quick and swift.
You feel yourself still struggling to breathe, a mixture of panic setting in. They’ve come? Really? But you’re sure Sehun would never do such a thing. You told him specifically—You’re going to give him a piece of your mind when—if—he shows up.
The door to the room bursts open, smoke pouring in from a mini explosion. You cough, eyes watering, and you make out several figures through the smoke.
None of them look like Sehun.
So then who…?
“How’d you end up like this, princess?”
Your head snaps up at the voice, eyes widening at the familiar face smirking at you. “Minseok?”
“Need a hand?” He asks rhetorically, pulling out a dagger from his belt and swiftly cutting through your binds. You rub at your wrists, seeing them purple and raw.
“What are you doing here?” You demand. “I thought EXO got caught by the police.”
“We were.” He answers simply. “But we escaped. As if they would be able to hold me. I went to go find you, but Sehun told me you were likely kidnapped, and gave me your location.”
“I can’t believe you did this.” You say in disbelief, throwing your hands up. “Do you know how risky this is? You’re literally risking your own mafia—”
“Yah,” Minseok raises a brow, “Are you seriously berating me right now? After I just saved you?”
You take a better look at him, his image burning into your mind. You’re so relieved. You’re so relieved.
You feel your eyes sting, and like a child, you begin wailing.
“Whoa!” Minseok exclaims, wrapping you in his arms, pressing you against him. “Why are you crying? Hey, it’s okay.”
You feel yourself literally crumpling, your legs giving way and your body going numb. You feel dizzy, your body losing all strength, and he feels so warm and comforting against you. “Thank you, Minseok.”
Then the world spins around you, and fades away.
You wake up in an unfamiliar room, hooked up to half a dozen machines that are beeping quietly next to you. You groan when you try to move, your muscles screaming in protest.
“Raven!”
Someone helps you up, and you realize it’s Sehun. He looks like he hasn’t slept or had a proper shower in days, with hair sticking up in all directions and dark bags under his eyes. He looks both relieved and insanely worried, and you suppose you know why. “Sehun…what happened?”
“You left!” He hisses, looking almost crazed with his blazing angry eyes. “I told you. I freaking told you not to go and yet did you listen? No! I swear, Raven, if that man didn’t kill you, I will—”
“Sehun!” You exclaim, stopping his rambling. “I get it! I’m sorry. I know it was stupid, but I just had to…” You trail off, exhaling. “I’m sorry.”
He breathes out, shakily, and then again which is much calmer. He sinks into a chair placed next to the bed you lie on, body slumped. “I’m just…I’m just so glad you’re safe. I wanted to go get you when I got the photo—I was going to get you—but I knew you’d be so angry to know I left the mafia on its own—” He rubs his face, looking so tired. You’ve never seen him like this before.
You place your hand gently on his shoulder, giving it a squeeze. “Thank you, Sehun. You made the right choice. I was ready to die there, so this is actually a pleasant surprise.”
The door clicks open, revealing a dark haired man wearing a white doctor’s coat. You’re sure you’ve seen him somewhere before… “…Are you Yixing?”
“Yes,” he looks surprised for a moment, before he smiles. “I’m surprised you remember me. Anyways, you don’t have too many injuries, which is good. You twisted your shoulder, and your wrists and ankles are bandaged up, as well as your lip. I didn’t really want to stick anything into your mouth,” he lets out a sheepish grin, “but the wound seemed to be healing on its own just fine. Just remember not to irritate it while eating, and please don’t drink alcohol because that stuff will burn. Trust me, it’s not as numbing as people say it is.”
You manage a smile. “Thanks.” A pause. “…Is…um...Minseok…?”
“He’s outside.” Yixing answers. “Should I call him in?”
Sehun lets out a huff, crossing his arms like a kid.
“Should I call him in, Sehun?” You tease, watching him jut his lips out into a pout.
“Well, I mean, I don’t want you to.” He sighs. “But without him you probably would’ve been dead, so go ahead. Do whatever you want.”
You let out a grateful smile, nodding at Yixing. Sehun rises to follow Yixing out the door, and Minseok pokes his head in seconds later. “Hey, feeling better?”
“A little.” You answer. “Sore and tired, but alive.”
“Well, that’s what matters, isn’t it?” He flashes you a lopsided grin, taking a seat. “But you really scared me there. You just started crying and then passed out. I didn’t even know what to do.”
Your cheeks flare up at that, feeling so embarrassed. You were so relieved to see him that you just broke down, but at the same time you’re glad it was him that saw you like that. You’re not sure Sehun even saw you like that before.
You bite your lip, wincing only when you feel the pain, reminding yourself that your lip is still split. You’ve been fighting this feeling, this revelation for ages now, but after everything, you think you can come to terms with it.
For the first time since playing, you’ve lost your own gamble.
“Hey,” you murmur, voice quiet and he hums in response. You look down at your hands in your lap, letting your hair fall and shield your face. “I love you.”
Silence.
After fucking confessing, you’re met with silence. You sit there like a statue, afraid to move, but by god you want to just curl up and die. You not only confessed to him, confessed you lost your gamble, but will now lose a shit ton of money and a portion of your precious land.
And you’re met with silence.
Brilliant.
Maybe you should’ve just died…
“Really?” Minseok finally says, a mere whisper of disbelief and you sigh—the most bitter sigh you’ve ever let out.
“Yes.”
More silence.
You finally can’t stand the itch and peek through your hair to look at him. What expression is he showing?
And when you look, he has the biggest shit-eating grin you’ve ever seen on a human being. “It was about time.”
You growl, feeling pain erupt in your mouth and cheeks but you ignore it, grabbing a pillow and catapulting it against his face. “Yes! You win the stupid gamble. Congrats, Xiumin.”
“Aw,” he pouts, “and I was getting so used to you calling me Minseok.”
You cheeks are so unbelievably hot, and it’s hard to keep the fierce, angry expression on your face. “Enough! I’ll get Sehun to send you the money and contracts, so just—”
Before you can finish, he grabs your arms, pulling them away from your face so you can’t shield yourself. “You’re an idiot.” And then he presses his lips against yours.
You squeal, feeling pain on your wound despite how gentle Minseok is being. When he pulls away, his face is scrunched up. “Ew, blood does not taste good.”
You catapult another pillow into his face.
