Family Dinner [R-13]
You anxiously checked your make-up for the sixth time on your vanity mirror, pressing your lips together to even out your lip gloss. Your boyfriend was coming over to have dinner with you and your parents. Even though he’s met them before, usually backstage after the show was over, this was the first time he’s actually going to hold up a conversation for more than three minutes.
Glancing over at the Polaroid picture of the both of you taped at the edge of the mirror, you calm down. It was taken after the first musical you and Junmyeon had done after both graduating art school, majoring in theater. It was a success and it also marked the day you both succumbed to each other’s feelings. You smiled at the memory, tracing the white edges with a fingertip.
The doorbell rings downstairs and you jump up to your feet, bursting out your room and hearing your mother’s shrill voice greet Junmyeon with much enthusiasm. You reach the top of the staircase and spy your father giving him a firm handshake.
“Oh, sweetie! I told you that dress looks amazing on you. It looks amazing, right, Junmyeon?” Your mother bumps her shoulder against Junmyeon’s, who’s eyes were trained on you.
“Ah,” He blinks, realizing that he had been staring, “You look amazing.”
Your cheeks heat up as you press down the cloth of your knee-length, A-line dress. It was old rose in color and had fitted short sleeves. The scooped neckline accentuated your collarbones and gave just a little teasing preview of your cleavage. “Thank you.” You managed to say as you walk down the steps.
“These are for you.” He hands you a small bouquet of your favorite flowers and it was only then you realize your mother had the same bouquet in her hands, but the flowers being in her favorite color.
“Aren’t they beautiful? I’ll put them in vases and set them up as centerpieces for the table.” Your mother takes the flowers from your hands and excuses herself.
“Where’s my flower?” Your 7 year old sister pops her head out of the living room and pouts at Junmyeon.
“[Sister’s name].” You hissed and Junmyeon stops you.
“I have it right here.” He beams down at her and pulls out a small rose bud from the inside pocket of his jacket.
Your sister squeals while taking the flower from Junmyeon and running into the kitchen to show your mother.
“Well, come on to the dining room, you two.” Your father ushers and everyone, including your older brother, settles into their respective seats on the table. Your parents sat at the ends of the table, Junmyeon sat beside your sister, and you sat across him with your brother.
The dinner starts with your mom’s classic pumpkin stew and some heavy questions from your father. Junmyeon answered him after a second of thinking and compliments your mother’s cooking, to which she bashfully thanks him for. There were some questions Junmyeon had found himself stuttering and to help him calm down, you rubbed your foreleg against his. He smiles into his napkin at the action and coolly answers your father.
After the questions were laid out and answered, your father seemed appeased and satisfied with Junmyeon’s answers. It was your sister’s turn to speak and she decides to tell everyone about what happened at her school—something Junmyeon was earnestly interested about.
“Daddy, could you pass the salt?” You let go of your spoon and hold your hand out.
Your father and Junmyeon both reached for the salt shaker and Junmyeon pauses halfway, awkwardly pulling his hand back to his spoon.
You silently gulp and fight the urge to blush at his mistake. God forbid letting your entire family know what it’s remotely like in the bedroom. “Haha, Junmyeon, I know you like to play your characters well, but off stage, too?” You laugh.
Catching on, he laughs, too. “Oh, well, I do need to internalize them.”
“So,” Your father passes the salt shaker to you and looks you in the eye. “There’s a new musical coming up?”
“Yes.” You tried not to stutter or else he’ll call you on it. “Junmyeon plays a single father and I play as his stepdaughter. They’re not major characters like our previous stages, but they’re still characters.”
You feel your brother snickering and you kick his shin, much to his surprise and pain.
“I see.” Your father seemed skeptical but continues to eat.
Silence falls over the table and you think the topic is dismissed until your sister chirps “I overheard my friend’s sister call her boyfriend ‘Daddy’, too!”
“I am so sorry for tonight.” Junmyeon rubs his hand down his face and his cheeks burned while you walked him out to his car. “I can’t believe I responded to daddy awhile ago.”
“Don’t sweat on it, I mean, my parents trust me on my decisions and I guess my dad was just shocked about it. But overall, they all like you.” Both of you reach his car and you quickly glance at your house to make sure no one was watching. When the coast was clear, you grab the front of his jacket and pull him closer. “Drive safely, daddy.”
“I-I will, baby.” He breathes, kissing your forehead.
“Call me when you get home, okay?” You whisper into his ear with a sultry tone that sent an immediate reaction that pressed against your thigh.
“Okay.” He swallows hard before kissing you.
There might be a sexy sequel!!
