Thought of The Day: Getting Serious

I was listening to NPR this morning on the way to work and they were reporting on Exon Mobil shareholders trying to force a vote on climate change action. They noted that regulators are receiving many official requests by shareholders in different industries on climate action.

In a way this is great, because it shows how widespread concern for climate change is reaching. But here's the thing... If you're sitting around thinking to yourself 'I'd really like to see action on climate change,' but you're investing in oil companies then you're really not that serious are you?

There is a very obvious solution here. If you take the threat of climate change seriously then you would not invest in fossil fuel companies. This is a serious problem with human society. People recognize a problem and kind of want to be part of the solution, but not as much as they want to profit off the problem. These people will be the death of us all.
