jianing stomped his little foot, “aw, dang it!” he let his arms flop to either side of him. he put his hands on his hips, watching the tiny dog run away under a fence so the two would stop chasing it. jianing just wanted to help the little thing. maybe if this guy did not show up and help him, jianing could have caught it. he frowned.
“what’re we gonna do? do you think he lives over there?” jianing watched as the dog ducked under bushes and trees past a fenced off plot of private property. soon, the little thing was out of sight.
he tried to comfort himself, thinking, wondering, what would taibo do? without his brother, jianing was easily agitated, and losing this stray dog was no different. calming himself down would be impossible. his cheeks and nose became flush with frustration.
"this is terrible! he’s gonna die out there! all alone! what about tonight when it gets cold?” for the first time, jianing fully turned to actually look at his dog catcher partner.
