I just read your fic ‘at the expense of the world’ for the first time and Jesus Christ there are no words to describe how absolutely mind-numbingly, gloriously, unbelievably hot and perfect it is. Beautifully cruel God-Emperor Tom? His darling puer Harry who no one else can lay a finger on? The power imbalance, the reverence and fear of Tom from everyone in the setting…. It’s all just superlative. I wanted to say thank you so so much for writing and sharing it with the world. I also wanted to ask if you had any recommendations of fics that have similar vibes/similar AUs (worshipped ruler tom, pet concubine harry)? ashjdhd i hate to be the bearer of bad news anon but i wrote that fic specifically bc i was like damn, i dont think anyone's written anything quite like this before, with the deification of the abuser protag and the objectification of the victim protag :') it was very much a moment of one part of my brain going 'someone should write this' and the other part going 'well. yknow. you know what they say' and me going ughhhh FINEEEE
I think obsidianpen has a dynamic something like it though? in No Glory? but i have never read that story because i heard it was very angsty and not very smutty (at least, not at first) so i can't confirm that, though harry does push back more in that fic iirc. and there was that one fic written in first person where vee (later just called tom) tried his damndest to break harry's spirit by just... well. noncon. and eventually tried to get harry pregnant, which has a similar kind of dynamic. it's orphaned now and i forgot the name, but it definitely still exists somewhere. and there was one fic where tom was a egyptian god or pharaoh, and harry was also traveled back in time, which inspired the beginning of expense. i'm not sure if that fic still exists though :(
that aside, thank you so much! i really appreciate the praise and kind words <3 i don't know if harry is his darling puer currently XD but he's definitely untouchable by the rest of tom's... staff, and of course the rest of the world.
