I get tired of hearing experts, coaches, therapists and all other well meaning individuals say "Just focus on the positive.... there is always something to be thankful for." Okay, yes. Every cloud has a silver lining. Guess what, that silver lining doesn't negate or remove the cloud. Telling someone to only focus on the good/positive/what they have to be grateful for is as absurd as telling them to only focus on the negative. You need to experience the whole. Not just part of it. Not taking the time to acknowledge the entirety of what is taking place is what causes issues. That is why people that are struggling don't talk about what they are struggling with. I remember as nurse I had a patient tell me that she didn't want to hear someone tell her there are other people who have it worse because she was allowed to be upset about her diagnosis, it didn't matter that the world did not think it was as bad as other people's situations. For her it was terrible. That stuck with me. We not only need to stop robbing other people of their experience... we need to stop robbing ourselves because we don't think we have the right to feel the whole... to experience the entirety. #goodforyoursoul #jenshakeelcps #experiencethewhole #mentalhealthawareness #feelings #human https://www.instagram.com/p/B3xFll-F2gj/?igshid=13jghxfrerltl
