Is silence a myth?
A misnomer?
Is it the name of the complacency into which our minds fall when sound is repetitive and ambient?
We say that the world is silent if we do not hear a bird’s song or the breeze in the trees.
They say that she is silent, but her soft soled shoes whisper over the dirty lane as she stalks him.
He would say she didn’t make a sound, even as her panting breath disturbed the small hairs on the back of his neck.
Of course...
...now he wouldn’t say anything.
The delivery of death was a muffled struggle, but the corpse makes not a sound.
Is silence a myth?
Or is it a profane prize awarded only to the dead?
