This week I signed up for the experimental animation workshop. Today was a lot of me trying to figure out what style I wanted to animate in and what exactly I wanted to animate. In the end I decided to animate a flower being stepped on by a boot but then blossoming again after. The flower is meant to represent the Palestinian people and their resilience against the Israeli forces.
It is meant to show that no matter how much the Israeli forces try, they will never be able to erase the Palestinians, who will continue to thrive despite it all.
I at first started animating Palestines national flower ( Faqqua Iris) sprouting from the earth on thin A4 pepper on a light box. But then decided to use sand to animate this scene. The sand proved to be a better choice, the looseness of the sand created very simple shapes but conveyed a powerful meaning which is what I desired
( I’m posting the sand animation separately as I can only post one video on each post)
