So the next bit will be about explaining Mementos.

i’m pretty sure most of these drabbles are lacking context that makes them.. uhh, make sense for you guys?

but most of them are like snapshots of basil’s life before his dad died, and after his “accident” sooo...

for instance the pink one is basil cluelessly touching a cactus with a pink flower and his old neighbor warning him to be careful.

the purple one is him dreaming of an old memory coming back where he used to be tested to see if he could adapt to being stuck underwater. his abilities would let him grow gills but he dreams about scratching his skin away to make them and wakes up seeing he did that in real life while sleeping.

the red white and blue is basil as an 18 year old seeing all his neighbors putting up flags for the fourth but one neighbor wears his old uniform and salutes his flag and it triggers a strange memory of basil seeing someone in a military uniform calling him a soldier.

and the last one, the dodger blue, is basil sometimes remember the odd sensation before he “woke up” from his “coma” where he was both flying and falling because it was him being rolled out on a gurney with his dad and his dad’s friends that helped them escape, and he was heavily drugged up and was supposed to be not even conscious but he was aware he was “floating” and he wants to relate that to this thing the scientists were trying to do which was make him see if he could levitate.

An explanation for some of UW's sleep talking!

He dreamed that we were at the fairgrounds. I had gone out there with the kids, and he brought the truck with stuff in it because it was a flea market set up and we were vendors there. They stuck us in the back because we weren't regulars. After he dropped off a bunch of stuff, he went back to get more things. When he returned, I had 8 tables with a multi-tiered display of these creepy porcelain clown dolls with cone hats and Ronald McDonald hair. Apparently I'd done such a great job setting up the display that people were buying all of them. So he was happy.
