Imagining the elements in Ninjago as somewhat conscious and so interesting.
Fire tends to get warmer when Kai is around. Somehow, its flames rise ever so slightly, as if standing at attention. Sometimes, when he used to blacksmith, he felt this urge to place his hand into the fire and let it swallow him whole. Let it take him away.
Lightning arcs towards Jay, always forming into more intricate and intense shapes and strength when around him. Lightning storms are more frequent than just everyday rain in Ninjago City due to him. He’s like a bonafide lightning rod. Sometimes, he feels like it’s calling to him.
Water and its waves tend to get stronger when Nya is near, swallowing up beaches when they shouldn’t and creating gigantic waves that, somehow, don’t destroy everything nearby. Nya sometimes has to blink twice to make sure that wasn’t Nyad waving at her inside.
Cole sometimes walks on a path he swears wasn’t as smooth as this, and other times notices bumps he trips over and rocks that weren’t always there. It almost seems like someone, or something, keeps leaving rocks with crystals inside for him to find. Like little treasures for him to find. Despite the strangeness of these things, he gets reminded of when his mother, Lily, used to make him go treasure hunting.
Zane feels like he’s always being watched when near ice, or even just snow. He feels a presence, one that is almost overwhelming, surround him. And somehow, his senses dull when experiencing such a sensation. As uncanny as it is, he feels as though he will never be in danger when it is watching.
Lloyd’s experience was a bit more…unique. He found things that didn’t belong, felt as if the life of the things around him stood stronger and taller, felt them lean towards him, felt a strange presence watch over him. He experienced what the others felt, but his element tended to show him ways he never considered, open doors that weren’t yet there. It would show him of someone was terribly injured, or sick, would push him into making choices that was better for him and his friends, rather than just the world as a whole, and would drag him back, freeze him in place, when it knew his death was near.
Morro and Euphrasia would feel voices echo in their ears, the wind whistling through them, grasping them like it had limbs of its own. Holding onto them like it wished to never let go.
Skylor would feel as though there are thousands of eyes, beckoning her to come closer and something deep within the core of her soul tells her to wait and watch. To choose correctly. To choose wisely.
And sometimes, this comes as an inconvenience. When you’re wearing a thick ninja gi, or your hair become extra frizzy, or sometimes you trip more often then you should on seemingly nothing, or you feel as though there is something bigger that has become apart of you, it gets a bit much, and they have no idea why this happens. They assume it’s their natural affinity with their elements connections they have nurtured over the years, but that, evidently, is not the case.
Their elements enjoy these masters more than their previous ones, and it results in this.
This feeling as though you have been blessed with something that you did not want, but must bare the weight of regardless.
