The MANY rise and falls of Rise or Fall
Welcome to my first show review!
Explosive Pro Wrestling’s Rise or Fall was a night of highs and lows for me as a fan, I really enjoyed myself so thanks for the great show guys and girlsJ I’ll try to stick to the order of the night for ease…. Let’s do this!
The show was started by “Mean” Dean Olsen and Ringbell Mel. Olsen was our ring announcer for the evening and he did a really good job throughout the night.
First match was The Tequila Mockingbirds vs. Twitch and Eddy Bombay. I do think the Mockingbirds are more suited to the Lucha Royale audience, that audience just seems to react more to the little things that they do as a team… and I miss Chris Vice and Johnny Wimbledon. Not that they are the Mockingbirds or anything… Twitch and Eddy. What an odd combination. After what seemed like a slow start, the match got underway and the Mockingbirds got the win. The crowd seemed a bit more into it at the end, being more vocal. I love Juniors’ interaction with the audience.
Next was Jarrad Slate vs. Gorgeous Garry. Michelle came out with Slate which made no sense to start with, but she explained it. Gorgeous came out and this was my second favourite match of the night. Hard hits and impactful moves, everything seemed to have a purpose in the match. The chops on the outside to Slate were loud and painful. The rusty fish hook… Gross. Gorgeous didn’t seemed to fazed by Michelle until she grabbed Ringbell Mel again, which distracted him enough for Slate to regather and hit a mean looking big boot. It looked like it took of Gorgeous' head. Slate is your winner.
More Michelle talking. Bruiser will be back next show. And she twisted Gorgeous Garry’s words to make a tag match for herself and Bruiser against Gorgeous Garry and Ringbell Mel. Now, I am pretty sure Mel isn’t a wrestler and Michelle is tough. This should be interesting. More women wrestling can’t be a bad thing.
Next was the remnant of what was going to be the main event until both the EPW Champ and one half of the EPW Tag Champs got injured. Jay Taylor and Dan Moore was a chance to prove they can do this as singles guys… and they did. I am really starting to enjoy what JT does in the ring. He is becoming very, very entertaining to watch. Still find his face annoying though. Dan Moore being “The Nice Guy” works so well because he does kind of look like that guy. I enjoyed the action in ring and Jay Taylor ended up being the victor.
Then William Darcy came out and called out The Tequila Mockingbirds. I enjoyed less Darcy on this show. Used less, his appearances make more impact AND I get to see less of him. The Mockingbirds came out. I thought that Darcy was going to fire them too (NOOOOOOO) but it was not Vice and Wimbledon under those masks. To the guy as Johnny/ Junior you had me fooled well. Senior was not Vice either but MARCIUS PITT! It was so good to see someone stand up to Darcy. Pitt is going to be the guy I wanted to save EPW. He got his chance to take the belt he never lost back at Goldrush after some physical convincing: P I cannot WAIT for that match next show. I finally felt connected to someone in that locker room, like he was doing not just for himself, but us as well. And thanks for doing that, Pitt.

Next up was The Rising Star Cup final for…. 2012. Odd that a 2012 final is in 2013 but I guess that shows how long Scotty Ryan was been ducking Hayden Zenith. Enjoying Ryan and Leo Pratt as these dickheads who have the worst dance moves in history. They make me laugh AT them, not with them. Great showing by both guys but, as I suspected Hayden Zenith got the pin AND is EPW’s Rising Star Cup winner for 2012. He has improved leaps and bounds over the last year and it is well deserved. Then, while celebrating The Warship cut the celebration short by spearing Zenith in half. I have no idea why Warship is doing this but I suspect he will let us know in due time.
Fun little match with Leo Pratt and Mike Massive followed. Pratt you’re hilarious. Massive, people just love to cheer you. Massive defeated Leo Pratt with his new finisher… It’s like the Bonsai Drop that Yokozuna used but called his the “Brown Eye Bomb” which is disgusting, but totally Mass appropriate.
AND NOW FOR YOUR MAIN EVENT!
IF you were not here for this match…. You are an idiot because these 3 guys pulled out all stops and put on an obvious Match of the Year contender. Alex Kingston and Sebastian Sander showed heart and determination in this event that I have not seen before. Davis Storm is such a sympathetic wrestler, every move he hits or misses or takes I feel. The moves were intense and impactful, Kingston and Storm tried to team up on Sander but Sander came back. I would talk more about what happened but if you were not there, hopefully they release it on DVD so you can see what I did. Now, the stipulation to this match was the winner and loser would impact the entry of the Goldrush 15 Man Rumble. At the end of the Triple Threat Sebastian Sander got the pin on Alex Kingston. Now, that means that Sebastian Sander is getting the last entry number, 15 for the Goldrush Rumble. Kingston, for getting pinned, will enter at number one.
So, in close…
I really enjoyed myself this show. Considering all the changes due to injury I think it ended up being a great card. This is interesting to think, considering the people that were missing are all champions… Marcius coming back how he did was amazing, and him standing up to Darcy is lovely to see. The main event was nuts, and Kingston and Sanders stepped it up in my eyes. Davis Storm, he still has it. Congrats to Hayden Zenith! Heading into Goldrush we know that we have an intergender match, a 15 man Goldrush Rumble for a shot at the EPW Championship which will be started with Alex Kingston and ending with Sebastian Sander a Championship Match between Kiel Steria and Marcius Pitt. I am looking forward to Goldrush.
What are your thoughts on the show?
