Engine Stalled AU

Traveling across the country on an amazing roadtrip was supposed to be the best summer of best friends Character A and B’s lives. Greasy food, rockin’ tunes, and quality time with their favorite person in the world. It spelled the beginning of an amazing new chapter in their lives.

After seeing the World’s Biggest Ball of Twine, they stumbled back into the car and hooked the AUX back up for some good old Barenaked Ladies, but Character B’s phone must have played the wrong song because instead of “Pinch Me,” Character B’s voice memo played out over the speakers.

“Audio Diary Entry #34: I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I want to tell them how I feel, but I can’t. Everything is so messed up. I wish I could change things. It is absolutely absurd but like it also brings another point of contention up because now they know who to blame when the boys do soemthinbg stupid! Splints has so much goddamn tax fraud, theft, breaking and entering, interruptions of the piece, ownership of unlicensed weaponry, etc. Under his belt just form himself and his boys...

SLDJSKDKDK IT’D BE SUCH A MESS like Splinter always knew his kids did some…questionable..things… but I mean they lived in the sewers! He figured they’d never get found out so who cares! well. Whoops. Guess Donnie will just have to get himself working on a mind erasing device :/

Casey's situation is tricky too since TIME TRAVEL but also his dad is a turtle.

Actually!! I think Casey would be the easiest to fix. Donnie could probably just forge a few documents lying about his status as an American citizen so he could help him get his GED and eventually a job. They’d have to lie about his parents and origin, but that wouldn’t be too hard, maybe they could get someone in the Jones family to claim him as their child too? I like the idea of him adding Leonardo as a parent on the birth certificate, just as a tribute of sorts but who knows how that would look lol

The two societies would have to come to some compromise eventually but untol then the boys and Splints have to be like... super careful. People gorm both worlds are legit trying to hunt them down now between the governments, general fans, paparazzi, etc. They even have some CPS scares once word of them being kids came out because "Wait, they're kids!? Who's taking care them, where are their parents!?"

Honestly the craziness of all this is why I don’t think it was intended for them to be revealed at the end of the movie. It’d be a huge mess and argument over whether they should be acknowledged as legal citizens, if they can be classified as humans or animals, if Splinter is who he says he is (given that his DNA is altered with a rat’s now. But funny enough, the boys should be able to be recognized as his biological sons). BUT, I do think that the press surrounding it would make them so stupidly famous that the government wouldn’t touch them for a while because the sudden disappearance would be way too noticeable. I do think it’d be hilarious to see the reactions of everyone when they realize the giant turtle men protecting them are actually a couple of teenagers who watched way too many action movies.
