can you even imagine being beauregard lionett- your dad hates that you aren't a boy so much that he gives you a boys name anyway and pays people to come take you away so he can pretend he doesn't have a daughter,, but you scream at the people who took you and the people that are trying to teach you and you scream at every authority figure you come across because it's the only thing you can do. though sometimes your scream is more like a sarcastic remark whispered to others but you spend your entire adolescent years rebelling against every idea your dad wished you would be and your screams to authority fall on deaf ears for years. and then you meet these people that listen when you talk, they're peers but they don't immediately right you off so you talk to them and keep screaming at authority. and then something really weird happens, your screams that previously went unacknowledged don't anymore.
one day you scream and your mentor listens to you and trusts you to go into enemy territory alone with your friends
one day you scream and the queen of the krynn dynasty listens and hears you out
one day you scream and the king of the dwendalian empire listens and asks for your advice on how to proceed
one day you realize you don't have to scream because people are waiting for you to speak first, expositor lionett
Beaus the Man / “You’re on thin ice Lavorre.”
by the end of the campaign, I really want there to be a compilation of all the times the cast were impressed, shocked, and/or jealous of Beau and her monk abilities. we never really see it with the martial classes, usually we see it when a spell caster busts out a new spell, but with Beau, just such a consistently fun thing to see because monks have a bunch of weird abilities compared to other classes that she pulls out randomly it makes things so fun
sam: suggests some bugs bunny shit to trap the tomb takers with superglue
🚨chaos crew activated🚨
laura: is there a way we can superglue their whole body to the ground instead of just their hands. can we get them to fall into the superglue
marisha: exactly how much superglue do you have. what's the square footage we're working with here
i know a lot™️ happened in this episode but it feels criminal to overlook beau saying she's going to help jester and yasha move the log by providing ""emotional support"" and then saying "hot" when they fucking hulked it 300 yards without issue
peak lesbian disaster
I dont really want them to rp zeenoth s trial personally. Beau is my favorite character and her getting justice is great, but other than her information, it would be either a lot of matt talking to himself or Matt summing stuff up like with the peace talks that the nein were there for but played no actual role in once they started. It would be fine, I know some people in the fandom would watch and listen to Matt reading a phone book, but matt Doesnt seek to like to do stuff like that since it means the rest if the cast is just sitting there talking to himself and not participating in the story.
Whatever happens happens but I know people talked about it being a story hook that needs to be resolved, but I dont think it does. I mean from the characters perspective beau got closure the moment yudala personally apologized to her on behalf of the soul and assured her that what happened to her wasn't normal or how the cobalt soul operates. shes getting justice, if dairon had enough evidence to accuse zeenoth and get him taken into custody I doubt whatever he says will free him. The cobalt soul doesnt seem like the type of organization that let's internal corruption stand.
I see from a characters stand point why beau would want to watch the trial, but I'm not sure how much marisha would want to play it out. I could see it being a timeskip thing so it would be summarized like vox machinas year separated.
one of the reasons i enjoy critical role is because no one is afraid to act in character even if it is to the detriment of themselves or the group and thats one of the reasons the happy fun ball fight with the blue dragon is one of my favorite episodes. travis initially touching the glass and getting them into the whole fight, marisha following and accidentally taking jester with her, sam and liam deciding to stay and look for books even though they knew something was up but their characters didnt. fjord trying to talk down the dragon when im sure travis would rather jump right into combat. and then the end of the fight. caleb leaves because he doesn’t know that jester, nott and twigy are still in the room, but liam does and it kills him. laura knows shes probably going to die by blue dragon and tries to go down fighting with her inflict wounds that misses, sam did the math and knows that one hit from the dragon could easily kill him and chooses to take the risk bc nott would do anything to protect jester. and holy shit matt as the dragon, knowing that it could kill jester but still playing true to what it would do in response to someone continually antagonizing it like jester was
just,, everybody played their characters so fucking well that episode and i feel like if you want one episode to get a feel for who these people are, watch episode 45 bc its amazing and all you need to know about them
