Searching for toadfish on Tumblr seems to mostly bring up the Splendid Toadfish (Sanopus splendidus) (as well as unrelated fish that are also called “toadfish” or “frogfish” such as some puffers and anglers)

And while the Splendid Toadfish is indeed quite splendid, I was really hoping I could find any posts featuring its cousin the Whitespotted Toadfish (Sanopus astrifer). Alas, I could not, so I must once again take matters into my own hands.

I have discovered a new animal I didn’t know existed! It’s a Southern Blue Blind snake aka the Brahminy blind snake. I love these guys now that I know they exist because I had some problems with termites around my greenhouse especially with them getting into my pineapple plant roots and was just struggling to get rid of the termites until recently when they started disappearing around the same time a few of these guys had started showing up. Plus they’re blue, my fav color but apparently I have them to thank for it. While from Southern Asia and invasive to the U.S. they are consumers of termites, ants, and other underground insects. They are also non venomous, too small to bite a human, and eyeless like my cave fish due to a mostly subterranean lifestyle.

I love these guys. I looked into keeping one as a pet but apparently they can be hard to feed unless you keep an ant farm or two on the side that you can yoink larvae from. Not a great idea to keep reptiles with a specialized diet. They’re so cute though.

I’d like to submit the article ‘Everything What’s Wrong With Pelicans’ by Daniel Lavery as propaganda for pelecaniformes which may seem counterintuitive as it is a hate article but it’s one of my favourite pieces of writing and it only endears me to the pelican more

Can’t find a good photo of them on Tumblr to reblog so I guess I gotta do it myself. Here is a Four-banded Sandgrouse (Pterocles quadricinctus) male (image 1) and female (image 2).

I want to put them in my mouth (I am not a jackal). They look like they smell of balsa wood.
